We can see our yards again after the Great Snow of 2010 and they all want to look pretty again this spring!

Local Boy Scout Troop 2970 - which meets in the center of Broadlands at Our Saviors Way Lutheran Church (corner of Claiborne and Waxpool) - is once again selling mulch to the community where our Scout families live. Over half of our Scouts come from Broadlands area Scout units - Cub Pack 1483 (Hillside ES), Cub Pack 1484 (Mill Run ES) and from neighborhood schools - Eagle Ridge MS and Briar Woods HS as well as 10 other middle and high schools across Eastern Loudoun.

Just in case you missed our door to door flier distribution in late January and February, you can order conveniently and securely on line at http://troop2970.org/mulch.html, or print a mail order form to order by mail.

Proceeds from the mulch sale this year will help our Scouts go on great adventures to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Boy Scout Sea Base in the Florida Keys this summer.

We will deliver and neatly stack your bags ready to apply, and will even help you spread your mulch for an additional fee if you would like.

Check out our great prices, starting at $4.50 for 10-25 bags (10 bag minimum please), 26-50 bags at $4.25 per bag, and 51 or more bags at $3.85—your best value! We give you a choice—on-line secure ordering or send a check to Troop 970 c/o David Martin (Troop Treasurer) 43310 Butterfield Court Ashburn VA 20147.

Our last order date is March 27, and will deliver over a two day period April 10th and 11th when the birds are chirping, the squirrels are scurryng, the sky is blue, and your gardens are begging for a fresh coat of mulch!

Broadlands - we appreciate you buying mulch to help our Scouts! and while you're on line, check out all the great activities we have for 6th through 12th grade boys at http://troop2970.org/

For any questions about the Troop 2970 Boy Scout Mulch Sale please contact mulch2@troop2970.org.

Typically we recommend $8 per hour per boy, but is negotiable - depending on the size of the order, complexity of the landscaping requirements, and customer situation (physical limitations, elderly, financial challenges, etc). We try to balance the fund raising needs of the boys for their adventures with the understanding they are providing a service in spreading mulch. Hope this helps.

Quick question! Tried to order on line but it keeps erroring out saying I must have a home number for the billing address. My billing address is a PO Box so no home address. Also, billing address is the Ashburn post office (zip 20146) which is not one of the zip codes in the billing drop down.

I thought I was okay when I was asked for the address and zip in the credit card section but the billing section is different (??).

Sorry that you are having an issue with our website. PO boxes/ZIP 20146 are ones that our PaySimple ordering form can't handle - needs a delivery address. Please print a paper order form from our website, fill out the order form and mail a paper check to Treasurer Dave Martin (his address is on the form). Sorry for any inconvenience.

Does spreading also include removing old (existing) mulch or is it just putting in the new mulch?

    Many thanks.

that would be something to negotiate with our Scouts. Offer them cookies and they might clean up just about anything....

I did make a typo in the original post - any paper checks should be made to Boy Scout Troop 2970, NOT 970 (I left out a digit...sorry).

Today is the final day to order Boy Scout Troop 2970 mulch to help pay for our High Adventure trips this summer to Lenhoksin near Goshen VA, Philmont Scout base in New Mexico, and National Sea Base in the Florida keys! Lots of local boys from Mill Run ES, Hillside ES, Eagle Ridge MS, and Briar Woods HS could really use your help on this nice spring day! Delivered to your door rather than lugging it from the hardware store or local nurseries.
