Just when Barbara's wheels were falling off, the yellow flag comes out! Oh well, to the pits for refueling.

Actually, AFGM, it appears that once again we've strayed into an outsider's wrangle on a forum where we are guests. My wheels are fine, and as long as I keep up with the industrial strength windshield fluid, I'll be able to keep scraping off the sludge about HOA meeting minutes and flying chunks of peeling retread arguments. Ta for now, because we are boring people. Write me privately if you want to keep "discussing".

Any and all: Just got my Easterner and read the editorial last night, so I dropped by the new hospital group site to see if there had been any additions: The blank page "TBD" has become "Follow the Spider", a link to their spiderweb conspiracy page. The only reason I note that is because now, like the fact that you can't back up out of the site, but continually become more visitors in trying to do so, you now can't back out of Follow the Spider WITHIN the site--you get thrown back into Follow the Spider. Sure enough, when I clicked on the About link in the sidebar, I had become as many visitors as I had clicked in trying to get out of the interactive spider page.

I'm not making any insinuations or hoping to reopen the mudwar--I'm just posting something I think is interesting and funny, that you can now become multiple visitors at TWO places within that site.

    Hi Cliff. http://www.LoudounHOPE.com
If you go, will you post how many visitors you were ("you are visitor #___" is at the bottom right of the first page that comes up, just below the reprint of the Post ad.), and any good guesstimates about why the site works that way? It runs slow enough for me that I can read the stat counter in the lower address bar before the page comes up again, and I don't have the kind of tech knowledge that tells me why it happens that way. Thanks.

    Barbara-
I was visitor 1001. I don't know the answers to your techical questions. I am not very "tech savvy". Ebay and email are about all I know about computers!!
Interesting site. They hit the nail on the head about LHC's greed.

Did anyone else see the front page Wshington Post story yesterday about "not-for-profit" hospitals? The details of the case against Inova were in the local papers a few months ago.
In a nutshell, a financially strapped individual was getting squeezed and threatened by Inova for payment for medical services. The same individual was able to reach an agreement with the "for-profit" HCA owned Reston hospital.
The jist of the story is that maybe the "not-for-profits" are not living up to their obligations to provide charity care, which is one of the main reasons they are given tax-exempt status.

    Interesting read:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A45531-2005Jan28.html

    Excerpt:
"...at the center of a nationwide battle over whether nonprofit hospitals -- often flush with cash, opulent buildings and high-paid executives -- are fulfilling their mission as charitable institutions. Since last spring, a phalanx of trial lawyers who made millions suing asbestos makers and tobacco companies have been targeting tax-exempt hospitals, accusing them of gouging the poor."

I am new to this topic, I do live under a rock, and was just wondering what the general overview was? Is this hospital going to be built and if so where/when? We definitly need one out here, I know Reston is getting a good amount of business.

Anyone see LoudounHOPE's new ad? Good ole boy Rod Hubbers is making a decent living for a Non-profit or a for-profit for that matter. I wonder if he took a pay cut with the takeover.

There was some interesting news in the Easterner today...did you see the articles on the worst intersections in Loudoun County? Both entrances to LHI are on there...that's reassuring!

Just some noteworthy news for the thread.

Sox, I saw it on their website when they updated it--I can't tell whether it's funny or sad, it's so over the top. Marie: guillotined! Leona: imprisoned! Rodney: A smiling man with two titanic she-demons (one of whom was unfairly painted during the Revolution as much worse than she was, which was primarily sheltered and ignorant--Marie Antoinette never actually said "let them eat cake"). Are we to conclude that Rodney Heubbers is on his way to the dungeon on bread and water, before he gets executed in the public square? I guess they mean it when they say "We need a hospital RIGHT NOW!" (snort!)

I did some digging in the SCC website, and their registered agent is at a law firm specializing in real estate and estate planning in Tysons, and the business address is a post office box at a UPS place in Cascades. I'm still trying to figure out who they think is going to send money to an anonymous organization? Other than people who already know who it is, maybe.
