    Hi folks-
The following is an official HOA announcement, not just me bloviating:

As you may or may not be aware, part of BRMC's proffer is for a 3.8 acre parcel of land's use would be determined by the HOA. This parcel is along Broadlands Blvd, between Education Dr. and the Clyde's entrance. It's partially wooded and has a stream running through it.
BRMC has offered this parcel as well as some money to develop it. The only condition is that there cannot be an enclosed building structure on it.

I am aware that there are many residents opposed to BRMC, many of whom live near the site. Regardless of your opinion on the hospital, I would like to hear suggestions of uses for this property.

Since this is an anonymous forum, feel free to post your ideas here. However, for the HOA to consider them, please contact the HOA Office or a Board member with your thoughts. We will need to know your name and address to ensure you are a Broadlands resident.

If the hospital is approved (which I do not support at this time). I think standard tennis court, basketball court, and play ground would be perfect. For those who live near Clyde's the closest courts are over a mile away.

Again this idea should not be viewed as an endorsement of BRMC.

In my mind it should be thought of as more of a wish list if the HOA was to be given almost 4 acres of land then an endorsement of a commercial property use

Shocking - I'm in agreement with Nova.

    I 'd like to add - a skate park & dog run/park

...of course if the HOA insurance would sky rocket - (as this cost could be passed down to the residents) I may retract my input on said "wish list".:devil2:

I think a multipurpose "park style" environment.

A nice large childrens play area similar to dinosaur or trailside parks.

An open pavillion (reservable for a cost to help with insurance fees?) with picnic tables and perhaps a couple of permanent type BBQ structures. A few benches throughout the park.

    A sand volleyball court.

Perhaps a small earthen ampi-theatre for kids shows and such.

Occassional security for the inevitable night time teen visits. :D

Dang, no enclosed building...I was thinking about purchasing it for my house....sorry, I couldn't resist.

I agree with Nova about the tennis courts...and if he'd like, I'd be happy to christen the courts with the butt-whooping that I'd put on him! :pofl:

I second T8's suggestion(s). Not so much the volleyball court, but definitely the park environment. Isn't there still an amphitheater planned for the area west of Clyde's?

i second the dog park portion of peas post, and like the idea of a park like atmosphere with tables, b-ball, vollyball- discounted food provided by Clydes for pic-a-nics....

Statue park/garden. Wooded trails with statues throughout.
An ampitheatre a la the Madeira school, like a clearing in the woods with tree stumps for seats (magical, fairy-like, for children & adult use alike).
    frisbee park
    vegetable co-op
    trails
tree art (taking young trees and splicing and binding to form different shapes like ladders, artwork, etc - when they mature it is incredible)

    Cliff-

I think it'd be important to understand if the entire parcel is usable. There doesn't appear to be floodplain on the site, but the stream may impact the ability to build tennis courts, pavilions, etc. Is there a way the BRMC folks would give you an idea of any factors that might impede certain aspects of a park facility?

On the idea side - I like the idea of a pavilion, picnic tables, open field for playing. I'm not original, just agreeing with previous folks.

Unfortunately I am of the fairer sex, and I would still whip you in tennis. (Full disclosure: I did play tennis in college.) It could be like Bobby Riggs vs. Billie Jean King

I would like to see some passive addition to the community.

A dog park comes up often - but would its use be dominated by outsiders?

I think the idea of replicating some of the services available currently only down in the south makes sense... like basketball or tennis courts.

Maybe something lit for after sundown use since its on the edge of the community vs embedded.

Dogs seem like such an important part of many of our neighbor's lives.. I'd like to see the dog park aspect further investigated if feasible. We don't have a dog, but the # of people who walk their dogs is really undeniable.

Why not make softball/baseball/soccer fields for the kids. Or a park like Trailside, Dino etc.
