Adding in my vote for a large playground for the kids. I like the idea of connecting it to the other trails in the community. If there was room, maybe add some physical fitness equipment for adults.

So would all the rabbits that live here! :)

...and all the teenagers. I can see it now. 24 hour security detail to watch over tomatoes.

Wasn't me. Although that sounds like a party to me. I need to meet more people like this though.

We had a ping/beer pong table in our dorm room at school and in my bachelor/Navy days I put a ping pong table in the dining room of my first townhouse. Good times.

My vote goes to the open-air amphitheatre. Followed closely by the brand new Broadlands Community Shakespeare in the Park troupe.

I want to hear more about this beer pong before casting my final vote.

Many ways to play. The most common for us was to fill 4 cups with beer and place one in the middle of each quadrant of the table (so 2 cups per side). You play individually or with a teammate. You serve the ball and play normally. If you score a point against the other player/team that player/team needs to take a drink. The added "beer" wrinkle is that you are trying to hit the ball into one of the opposing team's cups. There are many variants, but generally we played that if you rimmed the ball off the top of one of the other team's cups they had to drink half of the remaining beer in that cup, and if you were able to knock it into their cup they needed to finish it off. I don't recall how the scoring worked, but I think we kept score just like in regular ping-pong.

There are probably actual "beer pong" rules floating out there in the Internet, but this is basically how we played. Not that I would endorse any of this juvenile activity today, mind you... ;)

Two teams with 2 players on each team. 6 cups per side set up in a pyramid with 3 cups along the edge of the table. Use 2 beers to fill the 6 cups evenly. 2 ping pong balls are used. Each member of team A throws their ball and tries to make it into one of team B's cup. If a ball lands in a cup, then Team B has to drink that cup and the empty cup is removed. If both members of Team A sink their shots, they get to go again. If they miss one or both shots, then it becomes Team B's turn. You continue until eliminate all of your opponents cups. The losing team then must also drink whatever full cups are left from the winning team.

There are many rule variations out there but the basics are the same. I have heard of (participated?) in beer pong tournaments which provide much entertainment at gatherings (parties). Clearly using a ping pong table is ideal, but any 8ft banquet table can be used.

Drinking games were mostly useless to me. Oh, I was good at quarters and a few other games simply because it was COMPETITION! But I never felt the need to play a drinking game when I could do THAT well enough without a game! Hic!

OK, since we are throwing stuff out there, how about a Beer Garten?

First thing is that the site should be designed for multi-use.There should be enough area to setup a playground and also an ampitheater type setting to replace the existing Hillside area. If the ground is setup correctly, the elevated seating area would also double as a sledding hill during the winter, as long as the playground is not at the bottom of the hill.

Finally, I would also like to see a sand volleyball court.

Since we are now Certified Wildlife Habitat Community, and we also know how important it is for children's development and health to be outdoors and touch and feel the environment I am looking forward to an opportunity to work with HCA and anyone that is interested to get involved with Habitat team. This can be a "Healing Garden" for everyone wild and humans...

Let's all remember one thing. BRMC needs to be approved for Broadlands to get this property.

BRMC gets denied again, odds are it is a parking lot or part of ANOTHER 1/2 empty office building.

Lets keep the hospital pro/con/whatifs out of this thread please. Lets keep this focused on the specific question and proposal. The Hospital itself has its own thread.

    Thanks
