What if someone just moved into Broadlands in the last month or two? Maybe they should look into having one more weekend or late evening session mid season.

If possible special requests for new residents to obtain passes in the off hours are accomodated. We had not only weekend hours, but evening hours so current residents could get pool passes made throughout the spring; during many of those sessions not more than one or two families showed up...

plus there are many times when the staff are actually there due to other commitments that I'm sure with a reasonable discussion some middle ground could be found.

This could be a lesson learned on the importance of following community news..

Amen to that. I believe Broadlands HOA is one of the best HOAs in the area and they really TRY to be very accommodating...Kudos to the staff.

Thank you - the staff really appreciates being thanked every once in a while. They are a hard working group!

And you can compare because you have lived in so many?

I've lived in 5 different HOAs...and out of those I've lived in, Broadlands HOA staff is the best I've dealt with...I would think that's enough for me to compare to.

Try asking your neighbors. Maybe you could go with your daughter as a guest. I know we don't use all of our 10 guest passes during the summer. At least you could go a few times and then maybe get a pass later. What area of Broadlands do you live in?

Maureen, I have concerns about the life guards being totally clueless about the guest pass policy. I tried to explain to them last week that ten passes are allocated on my card (Summerbrook Pool)- they said they didn't know what I meant and tried to get me to read the pool manual (on a totally irrellevant page), they said they would "let me in this time"....this held up the line and was embarrasing that I was almost denied entry. Please will you review the guest pass policy with the staff?

I appreciate your help so I don't have to go through this difficult communication issue every time I go.

I have asked the supervisor to discuss this with the Summerbrooke pool manager. There has been some recent adjustments to the guest policy but none that would affect the situation you described. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply Maureen- I appreciate it. Please direct me to the altered guest policy so I can be sure to be up to date.

I am also quite concerned about the Dermott pool...the pool itself is in bad shape -- cracks in the concrete, chipped paint, and a sometimes dirty baby pool. My 4 year old got small cuts on her feet just walking in the beach entrance several weekends ago. I understand now why the fountains are off, and actually prefer that if it keeps the water warmer. The frigid water temp was always a problem in past years!! What I don't understand is WHY the fountains create such a drastic change in temp. Other communities and our gym have fountains and the water temp does not seem to be affected there...

My husband and I are just very disappointed in the physical state of the pool. We pay a lot in HOA fees...the pools should reflect that and be in safe working condition PRIOR to the swim season beginning. I appreciate your responses...

    Thank you!

We are revelauating at what age younger residents may bring in guests and how many. The 11-14 year olds have been causing some difficulties for the guards so we are re-evaluating that portion of the guest policy.

This is the first I have heard of issues with the Summerbrooke pool other than the discussion of the fountains affecting the water temperature. All repairs and thorough safety inspections are conducted by the pool management company, the Association representative and the County prior to the pool opening. I am having our representitive talk with High Sierra today. I would always encourage any observation of an unsafe condition being reported immediately to the pool manager.

After living here for 6 years, I finally went to the southern walk pool the other day. Everyone (including the very well behaved kids) were very nice and pleasant.

The only thing that made me scratch my head - my wife and I just got married and we haven't updated her license yet...which means I can't get her a pass, we have to use our guest passes.

Over all, I was very pleased.

Thank you so much. We mentioned it to the lifeguards, but they did not really seem to understand our concern. As a mom of 2 young children, Summerbrooke is our pool of choice! My husband and I were both shocked to start the pool season with cracked concrete in a neighborhood that we are proud to live in. We were in Gainesville over the weekend at another community, and they actually had the gradual entrance into the baby pool...it was really nice. Fountains were all on and water temp was not affected, either. I feel like we have some work to do to get this pool up to standards. Thanks again for your reply and efforts to look into the problem...

Instead of having the community pool open in the mornings for adult swim, would it be possible to open Southern Walk and its 50m lanes open?

Swim team practices are held in the mornings at the SW pool.

We too noticed some condition issues at Summerbrooke. However, the fountains were on when I was there. The issues I saw are that the misters that are in the "rainbow tunnel" on the beach entry don't really work and I noticed the cracked concrete. Overall though I didn't find the pool in terrible shape.
