Need Help! Built in GE Microwave

Our built in GE Microwave needs to be changed ASAP. It works fine but the roof is peeling and we hate what does/means. Since it's a built in, GE quoted approximately $2500-3000 for the model. Though I'm desperate, I feel it's way too much. I'd really appreciate any advice and if any of you have encountered this issue what did you do? I'm sure there is another way out..

 

By "built-in" do you mean over the stove?

If so, the best makes/models are easily over $1K. But $2500-3000?
Buy something different and install it yourself.

 

Thanks T8erman. It's wall mounted over the oven. Sorry if i did not make it clear. But getting a right fit that goes in the provided slot is the problem I guess. Whom does one contact other than the manufacturer?

 

Google what model you have and see if one is available on the internet. Mounting should be fairly easy then.
If not comfortable doing it yourself, look for a handy man to do it. I know people have recommended several on the Forums.
