    Hello,
I have a request to anyone out there who might be able to help. I don't think I am supposed to do this "officially" so I will leave the place of employment off of the post and if you really want to know I will tell in you in person :)

One of my patients is being treated for a rare blood disorder. He is a 15 year old boy from Guatemala. His father, who is an architect, recently moved up here after selling his home. Pedro, the boy's name, has 2 sisters. His family of 5 now lives in Bethesda, Maryland. He has been treated with us for about a year now and will undergo another type of treatment to see if he can be healed. The living arrangements they have will soon end and they are looking for a place to live.
As you might imagine, this is a stressful time for the entire family and they are weathering it quite well--but everything is moving very quickly and unexpectedly for them.
I was hoping that someone out there may be a position to assist his father in finding a job; if not you, then perhaps someone you know. His credentials have been verified and certified as authentic by the U.S. Consular in Guatemala and he has the legal documents for work in the U.S. He speaks English very well and has a portfollio and numerous letters of recommendation from former clients.
If you would, please pass this around to friends or associates that are in the business or may know somebody in the business.
If you have some furniture or other household items you don't want, need or would like to donate, I am sure they'd appreciate anything you might be able to assist with.
If you are willing and able to assist, please feel free to contact me at 703 728 2820.
His son's treatment starts next week, but they must be out of their current place of residence by January 10th.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer. I hope I didn't break any forum rules with this post, but I'd like help this family out in any way possible.

What type of work is the father looking for?

    Does he have any education?

You may want to refer him to www.craigslist.org-they have lots of furniture and stuff, some of it free. Also, Bob Levey used to run a freebie list-I think the guy that took it over his column at the Washington Post from him is maintaining it.

    Hope this helps.

He is looking for work in an architectural firm. He is a certified architect (5+ years of university education, with diplomas and has taught courses at a university in the same subject).
Thanks for the lead on the furniture. We will check it out.
