Trying to decide if it's worth popping $240 for a couple tickets for Game 7 tomorrow night. Wow, what an experience.

I was at Game 1 and 2 and it was SOOOOOO CRAZY. I've never heard the arena so loud. Can't stomach the huge cost for tickets at this point though. Where is everyone going for the game tomorrow nighT?

Glory Days sucks to watch sports! When I was there, you couldn't even see the lines on the ice because their projector sucks so bad. The Steakhouse, although a smoke pit had a great atmosphere for the game on Thursday night. I wound up leaving GD after the 1st to head for the Steakhouse. Had the game on three TV's and there were quite a few Caps fans in the place. Even more important...you could actually SEE the game.

    GO CAPS!!!

wow I have to say that the difference in these games has been amazing, it is like watching a different team each game (for both of them). But I have to say that momentum, confidence, and Ovechkin are all coming together for a hard-to-beat combination tonight.

Now with that said, my Flyers are going to wake up and realize that this mess is their own fault and get back to playing their game and take it to Ovechkin and shut him down. I have a feeling that Ovechkin will not have much skating room and he will be the key to the game. The Flyers have had good success too at Verizon Center so I do not see that as a big factor. What will be huge is Biron and how he attacks the saves...

    Lets go Flyers, Lets Go!

Biron is 0-5 in back to back starts.

Let's hope the Flyers fold once again when up 3 games to 1 like they did against the Devils a few years back. Too bad Scotty Stevens isn't playing for the Caps still :)

It was fun while it lasted. Great game 7. BS call with the Flyers second goal, but that's how it goes. I think they'll re-write the rule book in the offseason because of that.

I read about 5 different commentaries about that second goal and even heard that some of the referee comments we all around the 2 similar points.

    From the league:
"Washington's Shaone Morrisonn plays the puck, and Philadelphia's Patrick Thoresen lays a legal body check on Morrisonn. No Philadelphia player makes contact with Washington goaltender Huet (Rule 69). This play is not reviewable."

Being a Philly fan, I like the response. But what I have heartburn about is that there really was a lack of consistency with plays like this. The Refs in general did not do a good job with this series.

Didn't see the game because my DVR screwed up, but I'm proud of the Caps. They did better than anyone imagined this year, they got a small taste of the playoffs and in the "little things" department, Ted got 4 additional playoff games of revenue. That's a couple million extra for the bottom line.

I spoke with a person I work with who has played hockey on a professional level. You can not hit someone who does not have procession of the puck. When he hit Morrison, he did not have the puck which was interference. NOT GOALIE interference, but rather, interference, thus stopping the play when Philly touched the puck...no goal.
For the Caps to have been penalized on this earlier in the season against Tampa Bay and NOT have it go their way here is :censored:'d up. There is no doubt that the penalty in OT was a penalty (and not necessary by the way), but we may not have needed OT if that original call was made.

All in all, you can't ask for a better series as a hockey fan. Caps had a great run and I'm proud of what they accomplished this year. It's a great time to be a Caps fan!

Yea absolutely amazing second half of the year by the Caps! I loved seeing them play this year but lets also not forget that the Flyers were the absolute worst team in the league last year, quite an amazing thing to be in the second round the next year.

You are right about not hitting someone when they do not have the puck. That is the correct call. But if you read the quote from the League that I included, the Capital was deemed to have "played the puck"... so interference was not a possibility.

The fact that they were penalized on a similar play before is what I meant about lack of consistency in calls for this stuff. This play last night was not cut-and-dry either way but if the ref saw a play on the puck then I can see why there was a no-call. And you do not have to literally have the puck on your stick to be hit... it is about making a play on the puck.

Was he actually making a play on that puck though? I'll have to rewind my Tivo and look at that (...because if I see something different, I can call the league and they'll rule in my favor)
I seem to remember the play coming up the ice, Poti gets shoved into Huet, the puck is shot off the FALLING goaltender, pucks bounces back to Kapanen, shoots the puck and scores.

Good call on the Flyers. That IS an impressive turn-around. Only slightly better then the Caps as they were right next to the flyers in the basement.

yea I was just watching the play again (like 5 times in slow motion)... and the part to me that makes this really debatable is the intention to make a play. If you look closely, the spin move and shot/pass come and the puck actually travels right to Morrisonn's stick and he plays it (more of an instinct) and then Morrisonn is immediately hit by Thoresen... and the whole thing carries into Huet, but the key is that Thoresen never touches Huet, making the possibility of at least Goaltender interference impossible, which would have been reviewable.... And the puck never touches Huet during that exchange. I think Huet was caught between being out to defend the spin move and then wanting to reach for the puck as it came towards to front of the crease....
