Over the last 2 weeks there has been an increase in car break in through out the community. Most (not all) of these cars have been left unlocked with items of value left inside. GPS units, ipods, wallets, computers have all been taken. Please do not leave items of value in your car while it is unlocked and unattended.
Broadlands is a safe community but we all need to take the time to help protect ourselves a little more. Please remember to lock all your doors (including house, and car). Make sure alll your exterior lights work and turn them on at night. Do not leave items of value in sight - in your car, lawn, or home.
And fianlly please report any suspisous actviity to the Loudoun Sherriff's office 703 777 1021. If car alarms are going off on your street in the middle of the night your street is probaly being cased for unlocked cars. CALL they like us to bother them - it gives them something to do!!!!!

That is the problem with car alarms, when they go off, many people just curse the car owner and ignore it.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the alarm.

On the other hand, if you have ever lived next to someone who has a car alarm prone to repeated false alarms, it can be most difficult.
