We ordered a pizza last night, not keeping our hopes up too high, but we were so pleasantly surprised!! We had the pizza carne and I have to honestly say it's the best pizza I've tasted in this area. The sauce and the cheese were great. Not too sweet - just perfect. I really loved the basil, oregano, and extra dash of cheese on top. Pizza Hut next door had a line practically out the door. They did not know what they were missing. I'm so glad we don't have to travel to DC anymore for a decent pizza.

Shutterbug, I'm so glad you tried and liked Catanuso's pizza :) I, too, looooove the herbs they put on top--they add so much flavor! You're right, the people eating at Pizza Hut don't know what they're missing. Pizza Hut is so disgusting...I can't believe I used to eat it when I was a kid! I'm so ashamed! lol I tried Catanuso's mocha for the first time yesterday--the best I've ever had! I love these guys...and I thank them for being in Ashburn every time I go there. I like rooting for the little guy/mom and pop restaurants...I don't care much at all for the chain restaurants. I'm glad you liked Catanuso's, Shutterbug :) Have a great day!

LoveItalianFood - come out of the oven!

I think everyone here realizes that you own or work for Catanuso's. And honestly, I will not eat there as long as you try to portray yourself as just another customer.

hahah...wow. This is the worst and least subtle marketing plant I've ever seen.

PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!

    T8erman,
I guess I'll be "staying in the oven" because I don't own or work for Catanuso's--sorry to disappoint you. I'm a teacher who happens to love great Italian food (hence my screenname), and I've finally found it at Catanuso's. I'm curious--did you accuse Shutterbug of owning or working at Catanuso's? She/he had great things to share about it, too. I realize the majority of my posts are about Catanuso's', but there's no rule that states I can't comment just on one specific forum. Also, if I were to have nothing but wonderful things to say about McDonald's or Wendy's or Taco Bell or Papa John's or Subway or Pizza Hut or Dominoe's or KFC or Burger King, would you accuse me of owning or working at that establishment??? Here's my question, why can't a customer of a mom-and-pop, non-chain restaurant share positive and enthusiastic comments and be happy when others like the non-chain food, too? I've enjoyed reading your comments in this forum and others, and I find myself agreeing with you typically 100% of the time. Unfortunately, this time, with your accusation, I find myself let down--especially with your comment about not going to Catanuso's until I admit what you think I am. I'm sorry I couldn't confirm your assumption of me, but don't take it out on Catanuso's. If you want the owner of Catanuso's to join this forum, give him a call--703 723-1334. I'm sure he'd like to read the comments on here. (In case you are reading into my knowledge of their phone number, I'm reading it from their menu.)
In any case, no hard feelings, T8erman--I still enjoy reading your thoughts and comments on the forum. I hope you try Catanuso's sometime and not because of my comments on here, rather, because you're in search of a quality and authentic Italian restaurant.

BRIM--Give the owner a little more credit--nobody is that stupid!

    Take care!

LIF - it is not so much that you post about Catanuso's, it is HOW you post. IMHO, your zest and zeal is a tad over the top (maybe you know the owners???). I will remain skeptical for now. ;)

As for my saying I would not eat there, well, that was a ruse. If enough people say good things about the place or we find oursleves in that area for dinner, we may just try it out.

There is clearly some relation between "LoveItalianFood" and Catanuso's.

Do you realize you used the name of the restaurant eight times in that post?

Dear Fellow "Area Restaurants, Dining and Food" Forumites,
I apologize for coming across too enthusiastically and with an abundance of zeal about a new Italian restaurant in the area. Perhaps, I overused the smileys and exclamation points. I, also, apologize for using the name of the restaurant, apparently, too many times for Brim's liking. I had no idea a little thing like that could cause such a stir! Oops, there I go with the exclamation points again. I regret ever learning that wretched punctuation mark.

My point is...so I really like the place...so I use smileys too much...so I use exclamation points...can't a girl catch a break around here?! You guys are being a bit too harsh for a forum about sharing news about area goings-on.

T8erman--you're good people...thanks for being open-minded about my zeal and zest ;) I'll work on toning down my posititve reviews, but just know that inside I'm bursting with zestiness and zeally emotions.

    Have a good night, everyone.

This has to be the funniest thing I have seen in a while....

I have to agree, you must work there..... First of all "Cantanuso's" is not a restaurant - it is a quick take out joint.....

To give the flip side, I have had sandwiches there a couple of times... and really was not that impressed.... not bad but not worth the drive out of the broadlands.

I am going to have to try the pizza

I'm sorry, but no Take-out joint could ever have pizza so good that a true Italian food lover would orgasm over.
Although I will try it out. Always looking for a truly good pizza. They are rare at most take out places. Not sure when I'll make it all the way over there. Been so spoiled by now having so many restaurants closer!!!

Cliff, Wowzuh! Who said anything about Catanuso's and "The Big O" (and I don't mean Oprah)?? I surely did not. No food, not even theirs, could do that for me!

Rich351854--If you read my earlier post, you know that I do not work there. And...if this is the funniest thing you have seen in a while, may I suggest one of the many Monty Python movies or some old In Living Color episodes...now those are truly worthy of "the funniest thing" title. I hope this forum's topic isn't "the funniest thing" you've seen in a while...what a tragedy if it is :(

As much as I disagree with the gushiness over the restaurant in question, I gotta agree here. While it can't be true, I don't understand why it's the first thing to come out of some people...the whole 'Oh thats the funniest thing ever!' you'll get from someone when you tell them a mildly amusing story or the repulsive 'LOL!' that permeates the internet these days. No, you're not laughing out loud and if you are, you're a psychopath...

FYI - the funniest thing ever could possibly be Blazing Saddles.

FWIW ... one of the reasons people were somewhat skeptical about your posts, was that one of the first posts you ever made was to this thread and another and both were touting the joys of Catanusos, and out of 13 posts ... 11 of them were about this restaurant.

Just wondering ... do you live in the Broadlands?

Don't be so sure, there is a reason why alot of regulars on the forums are skeptical about a user 'gushing' about a restaurant; a user who is new (less than 20 posts) and most posts are in the topic of the restaurant they gush about !!:popcorn2:

Southernwalkres--Holy Grail is the best...Life of Brian is a close second, IMHO :)

    NeilZ,
I do live in Broadlands. And just like the other residents and customers on this forum, I frequent the same restaurants, grocery stores, etc. as they do. Like I stated in an earlier post--there is no rule that says one has to write an equal percentage of posts to the various forums. I could write all my posts to the "Contact Lenses for Sale" forum (hypothetical forum title...I hope! ;))...or I could write all my posts to the Fosters forum or Steakhouse forum...or Catanuso's forum. Just like everyone else, because I, too, am a resident, can choose to which forums I want to post. You can be as skeptical as you'd like to be; however, the truth has been explained--I am a teacher and I happen to enjoy Catanuso's food. I think that it's really too bad that people are quick to assume that positive reviews carry a hidden agenda. I realize (as I stated in an earlier post...typing this phrase is getting tiresome) that the majority of my posts are about Catanuso's. But...I don't have much to add to the politics forum, I have all the furniture I need, so I won't be posting anything about "looking for a love seat"; I don't know what a data warehouse is or where that thing is even located off of Waxpool, so I write some glowing reviews about what I do know...an Italian place in Ashburn that happens to have excellent and authentic Italian food. Where's the harm in showing support for a mom-and-pop joint?
    Have a good day.

LoveItalianFood It is great that you stand up for what you believe in and you say it in a nice way. You never reply with hostility which can be rare sometimes around here :D

Anyway just keep posting the way you have, you add some calm and sensibility with your posts and a lot of energy for what you believe in. :) refreshing

    Thanks
