I have 2 units- one upstairs and one downstairs-

The upstairs is blowing- I feel the air blowing- the thingamabob outside (can't think of the name) is operating, but no cold air. I did notice that there's no water being pumped out.

I hear its the compressor, but hopefully it's something else. Is there a few other checks I can do before I call the rapis- I mean the HVAC guy?

    Thanks!

We just replaced our 12 year old ac and furnace yesterday. The temp in the house got to 85 on Saturday with the ac running non stop and set at 73. Our fan in the outside unit was bad and it had a leak that was getting worse.
You may want to try turning it off for a little while and then turn it back on. That used to work for us when ours would freeze up.

    Good luck!!

We use the special 3M anti-allergen filters in our single unit system, and if I sometimes forget to change the filter every two months or so, the evaporator inside the unit freezes due to restricted air flow. This results in the outside condenser fan running, the inside blower running, but no air throught the vents as they are blocked by ice on the evaporator. Ice on the compressor and tubing at the outside condenser unit is a good sign that is the problem.

I usually turn off the A/C, remove the filter altogether, and leave the inside fan running "on" to help melt the ice and dry out the system. This is a very easy and common problem, so check before calling the pros to come out.

Also keep in mind a leak somewhere in the system and the resulting low regrigerant volume can cause ice buildup on components as well.
