Closed around 6pm worries me. I usually chat a bit with the manager when I'm there, and he mentioned something once about hard times. Hopefully this isn't a sign of troubles.

Yeh, the atmosphere could be better but I tend to overlook it for the food. :) It is what it is... an inexpensive, family-run local diner with good eats and reasonable prices.

That being said, I can't wait to try Cheeburger Cheeburger. My picture is on the wall of the one in Ft. Lauderdale.... And I understand why the fries are sold separately. Because if you go for the giant burgers, you won't want fries.

    Ah, youth....

Went there today with DW, everything was OK. Had a malt, burger with american, thousand island lettuce, onion rings. Fries were a "soggier" version of 5 guys.

We ate there recently and thought it was very pleasant. I had eaten in the one in Rockville before, so I kinda knew what to expect. My wife and I split a Burger and Frings so the bill wasn't too bad. The burgers are good, and quite filling. They have a great shake menu too.

Ruby Tuesday has a great selection of burgers - cooked to your liking. Just stay away from the minis - they're like a version of White Castle.

back to the topic- i gave chee chee a second chance- since the Ft. Lauderdale location was so spectacular.

their first chance here resulted in overcooked tasteless fries, and and overcooked, dry tasteless burger. chance number two had pretty good fries- but not better than Fosters or 5 Guys. I ordered the burger MEDIUM so even if they screwed up, i would get medium well, which is what i really wanted. But ya know, why bother asking if you are JUST gonna cook everything well done ANYWAY.

The slice of chipotle cheddar cheese was SO thin that by the time it melted and was delivered on my burger i tasted netiher chipotle nor cheese.

I requested sauteed onions and pickles on the burger. Anyone who has read my reviews in the past KNOWS that BALANCE is the different between okay and great. So when my burger came slathered with long, thick strips of onion falling out of the burger and 3 small pickle chips- my only thought was- pickle shortage in the kitchen?? could nobody get the new jar open?!? the bun was NOT fresh- they need to twist those ties a little tighter.

now for the GREAT news: the strawberry cheesecake milkshake was pure HEAVEN. some praiseworthy being took a piece of cheesecake, crust and all, threw in some strawberries, added strawberry ice cream and a little milk- and blended it to simple PER-FEC-TION. not too thick- smooth with chunks of graham cracker crust and berries that made my day.

My waiter- Alejandro, was excellent. Attentive, polite, and friendly.

Atmosphere- so fun, great teen date night, fantasic family fun, and anyone who appreciates musical roots in the 50's and a true diner experience will enjoy their visit here.

sadly, they will NOT be getting a flying colors review anytime soon since the burgers don't pass mustard- um- MUSTER- but if they EVER change their name to MILKSHAKE MILKSHAKE- they will receive top honors from Aphioni!!!

Tried it a month ago. I'd give it a thumbs down, too!

I went there for lunch last week. I ordered my burger medium well, and it came out perfect. I will say that it was pricier than 5 Guys, but I guess it kind of makes sense if you are paying for table service as opposed to counter service. Also, for what they charged for the onion rings, it seemed a bit skimpy. But I would definitely go back there again for lunch during the work week.

I saw on one of the morning news shows that the average restaurant slice of cheesecake had about 1,000 calories! After I saw that, I vowed to never again eat anything remotely related to cheesecake (gotta try and stick to the diet).

Also the location on Las Olas is great, but the one on the beach closed down (it was kind of hidden on the second floor of an open mall).

don't worry- i didn't eat for 3 days after the milkshake.. lol

i've been to both of those Chee Chees you mentioned- the beach one was better but both are far superior to this one. i don't get it- shouldn't the quality of meat be the same regardless? this one here is just so much more greasy and low grade... :(

but i'll go once a quarter for a shake. )

Tried it last night for the 1st time.

Burger was dry and tasteless and fries were really greasy.

Easily in 3rd place behind Fosters and 5 Guys....might even put Wendy's ahead of Cheeburger.
