    Re: Choppers?

They just sent out a Loudoun alert for the double stabbing in the shopping center. Sean Shanahan...wow. Hopefully, the victims will recover and this guy the book thrown at him.

The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Leesburg man wanted in connection with a double-stabbing that occurred around 10:20 PM Friday night in a Broadlands restaurant.

Sean P. Shanahan, 19, is wanted for two counts of aggravated malicious wounding. The suspect was allegedly attempting to purchase alcohol while being underage at the Mezza Grill in the Broadlands Shopping Center. The suspect was escorted out of the restaurant and eventually pulled a knife and stabbed an employee of the restaurant in the parking lot. A second employee attempted to stop the suspect and he was stabbed multiple times.

Both victims were airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital. One of the victims has been released. A second victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Authorities have searched for the suspect and made contact with his parents. The parents spoke to the suspect and said he would turn himself over to authorities on Saturday. At this time the Sheriff’s Office has received no contact from the suspect. The parents have refused to cooperate further.

Anyone with any information as to the possible whereabouts of Sean P. Shanahan is asked to contact Investigator S. Coderre of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information leads to an arrest and indictment the caller could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

I feel bad for Mezza Grill - thank you for doing the right thing and removing the person from the restaurant. Sorry it escalated unexpectedly and you couldn't get the police there before this person attacked others.

He didn't walk here from Leesburg. I wonder why the LCSO didn't include vehicle info in the BOLO.

The police know who this kid is and they will get him.

The sad thing is his parents are not cooperating more with the police so the blurb says, hopefully that is not true.

They did include a photo of the suspect. A quick Google search shows he graduated Heritage last year (and on the A-B honor roll 2nd quarter of last year).

Hmmm. How do they ALREADY have a mugshot of him in a beautiful orange jail jumpsuit if they haven't caught him yet? Oh wait, I get it, maybe at the ripe old age of 19 he is no stranger to the Po Po.

I was afraid it had something to do with both Stone Bridge and Broad Run having home playoff games last night. I'm glad it wasn't that.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all at Mezza Grill.

I went up to Mezza and dropped off a plant - seems everyone is expected to be okay, they are worried about this adversely affecting their business. Kind of an odd response but I can understand them wanting to move on and hope that the neighborhood supports them.

Of course they are worried... they are going to be 'labeled' as the place where stabbings happen.. even though it had nothing to do with them. Crime has that unfortunate effect, even if you aren't the ones who committed them :(

UPDATE: - email from LCSO 4:49PM

Loudoun County, Virginia- A Leesburg man wanted in connection with a double-stabbing at a Broadlands restaurant turned himself over to authorities late Saturday afternoon.

Do you ever actually think before you post, Lee?! :) This had NOTHING to do with any of the above, that's just fear mongering :screwy:

Silence did you ever expect anything more or less of me.:) But in all seriousness some of the crimes lately have been going way beyond just mischief and perhaps more police patrols should be in order. Out in Santa Monica where I lived including Marina Del Rey and venice beach. The police opened up store front little mini stations that were not manned all the time but gave the community a sense they were there and it really did help deter crime. plus the residents could go down to these mini stations and bring the police a cup of coffee or a sandwich and or just chat a bit. Perhaps something like this could be in order for here. And developers could donate these small spaces throughout Loudoun.

I don't think having visible police mini stations is a great idea here. Would that not depress home values and create the impression that this is a crime ridden area requiring constant police presence?! I don't think that's what we want to communicate. Increased patrols would be fine.

Even with that, it wouldn't have prevented the stabbing last night. Hope the two victims recover quickly.

Actually I would take just the opposite of what you have said. Especially if publicized as a community police station it also get the residents to know who their police officers are. Out in california they wanted the residents to visit these mini stations so they could get to know personally who was out there protecting them. Adds to the sense of community rather then detracts. Too many people in the burbs have actually isolated themselves more then they think compared to city dwellers. Another reason I love our little happy hours it really gives one a sense of community beyond your immediate neighbors or just your children's friends parents or people you work with. Our HH draws all kinds from the community in a relaxed setting that I may not have met otherwise and that is a very very good thing:) Of course buying a ref. off these boards can do the same thing right sharse & rharse and norm:pofl:
