Noticed last night my clothes washer was starting to leak water in the tub underneath it (also noticed it's time to replace the tub since it's cracked on one side).

It didn't gush water but still very concerning. Suggestions on what to look for when I pull this sucker out or should I go straight to calling someone? If so, who do I call - a washer repair service or plumber?

How old is the washer? I had one that was 7 years old start making a funny noise. I called a guy out (for $100) and he told me in 5 secs to just replace it because it would cost him more to fix it than to just buy a new one. He went on to say that washers we really only built to last 7-8 years anymore, not like the ones they made in the 80s and earlier. So if your washer is between 7 and 30 years old, I'd just buy a new one and save the cost of the service call.

The washer was only 2 years old, but the hoses and connections were 8. When we had the washer installed, looks like they used the old hoses and connections. Hubby fixed it.

I have a working washer that I can sell you cheap (taking up space in my garage...left by prior owners.) PM me if interested.
