We have these little teeny tiny, dark red bugs crawling in our grass and onto anything we set IN our grass. They're annoying but don't seem to bite or anything. They leave 'smear' redish/brown marks on our feet or whatever comes in contact with them. Anyone know what I'm talking about and have a cure?

I looked them up online and could possibly be called clover mites...

    Thanks!

We had clover mites, sounds like the same thing. They are apparently very common around here, especially in new developments.

They came into our house, invading one windowsill, because I failed to trim the grass under the window. We had an exterminator come out and one treatment took care of them. I imagine a regular insecticide would probably help. The exterminator said they are just a nuisance, no real damage threat.

    Good luck!

Yes, they're clover mites. We had the side of our TH landscaped and then all the window sills had them. We were going to pay an exterminator but we were told we could buy a product at Home Depot and use that for a lot less. I think it's Home Defense something or other.

Yes, its the Ortho Home Defense spray and is $15 for I think a 1 gallon size and this will take care of Clover Mites.

And yes, the solution is to keep grass away from the foundation or really trim it well or they might be coming in the window. They appear in the Spring and early Summer but should go away soon... completely harmless just annoying.
