When Clydes Moves in will there be another shopping center near or next to the clydes (not the safeway one), the land off of broadlands bv. is big enough for one.

when i see the pictures of the restraunt to be i you see a pic that looks alot like a shopping center with a clock tower in the top of the main building.....just wondering

 

This is good. Broadlands need more shopping.

Where are you getting your information about another shopping center?
The land between the Clyde's and Claiborne is still for sale. I just met with the developer yesterday, and they did not mention any activity on that property and I did specifically ask them if there was any further commercial activity.

Ran into a member of the Loudoun County Planning Board and he gave me the latest information about Clyde's.
It seems that Clyde's has requested to change the front facade of the building from wood to stone. There are several members of this Board who feel that stone is not appropriate for the facility. Rather than fight them, Clyde's is waiting til January to make the request. The expectation is that there will different members on the planning commission then.
Maybe it's just me, but I find it rediculous that the personal tastes of a few members could delay/stop this from being built. And they wonder why Loudoun County is perceived as no longer business friendly!!!

 

vacliff, this is exactly what is happening everywhere in this county. These guys are grinding to a halt every bit of growth and progress possible. It's even affecting the start of construction of their own schools. Their next step will probably be to mandate sterilizations at birth to control the growth.

 

I agree! Shouldn't the board be more concerned with traffic and crime than wether the building is stone? Rome is burning and Nero is fiddling....

 

Slow growth is one thing but this is just silly. It's not like there are not other stone buildings in our area.

 

I personally think stone would look great! Don't know what the big deal is!

 

I noticed a new construction company sign today along Broadlands Blvd. at the future Clyde's entrance road. It wasn't expected so I didn't get a chance to read it, but I did at least notice it... Maybe they're getting ready to begin the construction phase.

 

As I have mentioned before, I have a freind who works in Clyde's management offices and she has shown me the architect's drawings - it's beautiful really and will make a stunning compliment to our neighborhood (not to mention good food and drinks).

Then again what do I know, I paid extra for stone on the front of my home!

 

I think the construction sign and all related construction taking place there is for the school administration building.
