Hello all, we will be moving to the area in December. Does anyone make the Commute out to INOVA Fairfax? I am interested in routes to take, ones to stay away from, and back up routes if there are traffic issues. Any advice would be awesome!

I work right across the street from the hospital. Depending on your desire to take the GreeDway or 28 and what time you leave it carry vary a lot. I leave Ashburn aroun 630-645 - take 28 to the Toll road and then into the Beltway and around. This takes 35-45 typically. Going home is more on the end of 45-60 depending on traffic in general.
There arent too many good alternates in general to be honest. I take some back roads now and then if theings are real messed up - but thats mainly because I like to keep moving - even if it takes longer.

I work at INOVA Fairfax Hospital and live in Broadlands. My shift changes on a daily basis so it depends on when I'm driving in.
If I leave the house at 3am: I take Rt 28 to Rt 66 to 495S.
If I leave the house at 5:40am: Rt 28 to Rt 50 all the way to the hospital (to avoid the toll road) dont take Rt 66 at 5:40/6am, it's backed up
If I have the 9am shift, I leave the house at 7am taking Rt 28 to Rt 50 (leaving later than 7am I usually get stuck in traffic on Waxpool/Rt28/Dulles Toll Road)

Any of these ways will get me to the hospital in 30-40mins

Driving home, I usually pay the toll (Dulles Toll Road) to get home faster :) getting off at Rt 28. Unless Rt28 is backed up onto the Toll Road, then I take the Greenway.

Let me know if you need a parking pass for INOVA Fairfax. I paid for 2 x 10 passes and I haven't used them and I would be happy to give them to you. I believe hourly parking at INOVA Fairfax is $5 an hour or $10 for full day.

And I agree with others, take 267 Greenway to Toll Road, 495 to Gallows. During off-peak hours it has taken us 25 minutes door to door.
