Does anyone know when the new one off of Rt. 28 will open? Drove by there yesterday and it looks ready to go with just the rocking chairs to put on the front porch.

Was at the Manassas store last night, employee wasn't sure, but said they had to be open by end of June or July, so it looks like the latest they will be open is in only a few weeks!

A 73-year-old Vietnam veteran was fired from a Cracker Barrel earlier this month after giving a corn muffin to a man he thought looked homeless.

Saw that and I and my extended family and lots of my friends won't patronize them anymore. They are in conflict with themselves as they fire a Vietnam veteran yet they have a website with this link http://www.fourstarsalute.org set up to 'support military families' sweepstakes designed to help military families. What a oxymoron! There are literally having a PR nightmare over this as many military families won't dine there anymore as one of their own was fired for helping a homeless person. This multi-million dollar company doesn't really care about the downtrodden or their employees...all they care about is their revenues and nothing more. Sad.

All restaurants have policies about giving away free food whatever the reason, even if those reasons are altruistic. They are really just trying to prevent employees from giving away free food / drinks to friends, family etc. Unfortunately, in our litiginous society, if they have a rule, and they do not enforce the rule equally, they are open to lawsuits by those who were fired for the same offense. In one case I personally witnessed, a long time employee was fired for sneaking whole hams out the back door to donate to the feeding program at his church. Different in degree of course, but the same principle. Really, if you want to help out the homeless, then you should purchase the item and then give it to that person you are helping. (I should note that I am just reacting to the comments here and do not know all the details of the incident)
