Good news everyone! The Broadlands HOA Web Committee has voted and selected Community Wireless Corporation (CWC) to be the wireless provider for the Broadlands North. With their mesh technology, residents will be able to buy a standard 802.11b card (pcmcia, USB, etc), log into a website from a dialup-service (or friends house, the community center, etc) and setup their account, receive installation details and be online surfing the net at blazing speeds instantly! With their technology you will be able to take your laptop on your deck, the pool, a friends house, the community center, park bench or other Broadlands locations and work, game, or surf the internet with ease. Connections will begin at a basic 128k/128k package and go all the way to a full 1mb/1mb for premier access! Pricing and further details will be available soon. Be sure to come to our next meeting on Tuesday, May 7th(EDIT!) at 7:00pm at the Visitor Center to learn more about the service.

Is there anywhere on the web we can look up CWC?
I cannot find a web site for them...

P.S.: May 9th is a Thursday; is the next meeting the 7th or the 14th?

DOH. Yep, it's on the 7th. OOPS. I'll get the website changed. And they are working on getting their website up.

    Thanks!

I was wondering if there was anyway that we could take a look at the SLA between Broadlands and CWC. Im mostly interested in latency, guaranteed bandwidth, and uptime.
    Thanks,

Wireless is a technology that is not as monopolistic in nature as DSL or Cable -- it doesn't require nearly as much infrastructure. I'm wondering why we are locking into one provider... shouldn't we promote competition? (to prevent the type of antics we put up with for DSL and cable -- it sucks being dependent on one provider =) )

    Just my 0.02.

Also, has anyone heard from MAE Dulles (or any other provider) about their wireless offering that they said would be available in March? =)
