Chris, as much as I and the rest of the moderators disagree with you, it's a battle we're not interested in pursuing... We've deleted the post that offended you and have locked down this thread. No furthur postings will be permitted in this thread. Users interested in continuing the discussion that this thread was created for in the first place will have to open a new discussion. If anyone has issues with this, we apologize. We simply don't have the time or energy to pursue this when there are so many other things the Technology Committee is busily involved with. We don't condone censorship and would be happy to furthur discuss this situation, but it seems that the people involved already had their opinion made.

Chris, we've stated it before and we'll state it again; while the HOA funds this site, they have practically no say in what goes on in these forums. They are moderated by people like you and me living in Broadlands and taking time to volunteer to provide a benefit to the community. If you consider everything posted here to be the 'voice of the HOA', then we don't know what else to tell you... Members of the HOA, such as 'VACliff' are active members of these forums, but they are simply 'users' like everyone else, without any special 'privileges'.

As an outcome of this situation, we will furthur clarify our 'Forum Rules' to indicate that ANY post on these forums are the responsibility of the poster themselves and not the HOA. It's seemed pretty evident to all users since we began these forums almost 2 years ago, but it seems that we need to have it 'written down' to make the point clear to everyone.

I think everyone should consider these forums like the 'Editorial' section of a newspaper. If someone writes an article stating that "Birdhouses are a satanic symbol and only crazy people install them", would you consider that to be the opinion of the newspaper? If the newspaper prints the article, does it mean they support such an opinion? That's how we view these forums. We're not going to remove anything that may seem 'edgy', unless a few users tell us that they feel uncomfortable with it. In this case, we only had one complaint; Chris's. The problem in this particular situation is that Chris stated that, to him/her, this was deemed to be the 'opinion of the HOA'. That's where we, the administrators, decided to draw the line and close down this thread.

It's unfortunate that situations such as this occur. A good discussion has to be shut down because of the actions of a few...

We appologize if this whole situation causes any of you any inconvenience and hope you understand and support our decision. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions and/or concerns.

Finally, thanks to all the users who frequent our site and these forums everyday. The Technology Committee is committed to providing all of Broadlands with a useful website, as well as the many other services/activities we provide to the community. Thank you for your support.
