Some of you may have seen my "found dog" post last week. Well, last week we found a WONDERFUL dog, she had gotten out and we ended up having a doggy sleepover until animal control opened and we could locate her owner. When the owner came to claim her, it was mentioned that he may not be able to keep her due to his long hours at work-he just didn't have the time to devote to her. I asked him to keep my number and if he decided he couldn't keep her I vowed to try and help him find her a good home. Well, he called the other day to say that he needed to give her up. So, here's the run down:

She is a 3(?) year old pure bred pitbull. Please, no negative comments on the breed. I have a pit and the two of them got along great. I also have a three year old child and she was terrific with his as well. Enough said.

The owner has all her papers, she is fixed and her rabies is up to date. He reported that she is due for her other shots within the next two months, he is willing to either take her to get them, or pay for the new owners to take her to their vet to get them done.

She is housebroken and was raised with 2 smaller dogs. She is also crate trained. I know firsthand (we had her for about 24 hours), that she gets along well with children. Although she is great with other dogs, I think she may do better as the only dog due to the fact that she is an attention starved baby. She will follow you everywhere...

She is about 40 pounds (my estimate), tan with a small white patch on her chest. She has a gigantic head. She is very, very sweet. I would keep her if I could, I just can't handle another dog right now. My dog just turned 8 and has already had knee surgery on 1 knee, so I can't really expose him too much to a playmate.

Anyway I thought I'd post this here. If you want to slam the breed, please start another thread and slam away. If you are interested, or may know of anyone else that could offer this wonderful dog a good home, shoot me an e-mail. Due to her breed she is not able to be adopted from the shelter-they will destroy her.

My neighbors have pit bulls and I also wish to comment how sweet they are! Whenever they go somewhere, my husband and I are glad to take care of them. At first they do look kind of ferocious but then when you see their sweet demeanor and personalities, you've got to love them!

I made a few calls to individuals I know who love animals and told them where to look (ie, this web site) for more info if they are interested in adding another dog to their family.

    Good luck!

I have four dogs now and really can't add another one, but do wish you luck finding a home.

Hey there, I might be interested in keeping the dog. You came to my house once for the crate and I believe that you met my dog that day. I think that he is starved for some companionship and I've been considering getting a second pup. I have an invisible fence and work from home, so she wouldn't be locked up all day. Any chance we can arrange a meet and greet (bark & sniff) sometime this weekend? Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Ric
