There will be a community update in November, and we hope to have at least one representative from each commercial development available

Any word on when they will start construction?

If you've driven by there lately, you'll see they've poured some foundations.

After reading these posts, it seems that there are arguments for both sides in having and not having this store...

    * To Homer and his sheeple *

    You can be happy now....
Now you'll have the devoted police attention that you crave so much to complete your little Orwellian police community that you're creating for yourselves....

    Enjoy those donuts...

Hmmm ... nice of you to stop by and play .. now. Do you have something pertinent to say, or do you just want to drop a bomb and run ??

Well, It's very pertinent actually. I wouldn't consider it a bomb and run.. I too, do other things in life than spend an entire day on a forum board. I wrote a note and now I'm checking.
Being new to the forum but not the community, it's a shame to see so much talking and not that much acting.

Welcome back, and that's good news. We were starting to get worried. You'd be amazed at how many people are waiting for drive-through coffee!!!!

I know - I bet Starbucks will shoot themselves in the foot for not building a drive thru buck here. Stupid!

You know I never understood why someone does not build an indoor play area and restaurant - not fast food. With this many kids in Ashburn too.

They're going for a totally different clientele. I for one would get out of my car in the pouring rain and walk into Starbucks before I'd go through a DD drive-thru. (But I'm also a born and raised Seattle-ite, so maybe its something in my DNA.) I'm sure there are plenty of people, too, who have never been to Starbucks but are salivating in wait for DD to open!

This would rock! There is a restaurant up in MA that actually has child care. You have to call ahead and reserve a spot, but they have toys and games and I think they even feed the kids too, while mom and dad have a nice quiet meal. We never used it while living there because our kids were too young at the time. But I'd surely be interested NOW!!

Cost is probably a big factor. The retail rental rates in Loudoun are very expensive. You'd have to give up a lot of table space for an indoor play area. You also wouldn't have as fast turn over - people would stay at their tables even when they were done eating as long as their kids were happily playing. Well, I would anyway.

There would probably have to be extra liability insurance as well.

On the child thing when our kids were little we took them on many a club med vacation and they were well cared for while we could go out and play ourselves.

Actually club med has been great when our kids were teens also.

I have to agree a restaurant with child care would be awesome and for the people that don't bring their kids too!!!! ;)

There are two future fast food pads at the Southern Walk Retail Center. I wonder if either of those are large enough to allow for an indoor play area.

I would personally love to see Roy Rogers or Krispy Kreme in one of those. I can hear my arteries clogging right now!
