    Bought a new toy to use for several things. Previously I had done some of this via a python script on my mac mini (which took more time than I want to admit - I am not a software guy), and a hacked logitech mouse. Part of the motivation to change was not wanting to leave the mac mini powered on all the time. This little device only takes a little over a watt.

    For example, you can get an email for a contact closure. In the process of hooking up some sump monitoring, water leak monitoring etc.

    Attached are the settings to make this work. Took me a while since Comcast blocks port 25. Also has a pretty flexible counter system, and status can be verified over the internet.
