We use Superior Pest Management. Come out quarterly for $85, but will come out as many times as it takes to get rid of pests between visits for no charge.
    Phone number is 703-404-1921.

We have a pest control contract already but they will not do away with rodents etc.. only insects. Do they make that distinction?

Rodents are more work !! Really ... insects they can treat with a pesticide that they can deposit in cracks and crevaces, which is the best treatment method.

With rodents they don't have that option. You can trap or bait. Traps are of a few types, the old stand-by, the snap trap; the newer live capture traps, and glue boards.

With snap traps, they need to set them, and check them daily; live traps are easier, but they also need checking, about once or twice a week, depending on the infestation. Glue boards are very easy, just check them every couple weeks or so. Traps and glue boards can cause distress in the customer, they see this poor, defenseless mousie all squished or trapped in glue. The live traps aren't that bad, but the presence of a few live mice, starving to death can also cause issues.

Baiting has to be done carefully, as the rodent could end up dying in a location visible to all, or in the walls of the house, causing an odor issue. Then if there are kids or pets in the house, there may be liability issues.

On top of all that, they can't guarantee that you won't be reinfested a week after they remove all the traps. In short, this not a money maker for them under a service contract. Most Pest Control Operators will do this on a 'per job' basis, not via a normal service contract.

I suspect you can get a service contract for this, but not at $85 a quarter.

Unless the voles find a way in they would be dying outside. Voles seem common in this area, so I wonder what attracts them in one yard and not the next. You would think they would be all over and everyone would have this problem.

Superior covers pests such as mice as well as insect problems. They will service your house as many times as it takes to get rid of a problem.

Interesting, must be a large company to be able to offer rodent control in their standard contract. However, there aren't that many 'mom and pop' type of pest control companies any more.
