I understand how annoying it is when kids are loud right outside your baby's window - however - they don't know that your baby is sleeping nor do they know where his/her window is. At least they're playing outside. Kids often don't realize they're being that loud.

This is very true. And honestly folks, I'm a pretty easy going person (no really, I am!! ;)) We were just pushed, literally, to the brink of insanity and that wasn't helping. I know my child will be right there with em in a few years, but I'll really try my best to be conizant and respectful of my neighbors whenever humanly possible. There. I'm done. No more posts about this from me- I'm over it and not holding a grudge. Play away!

I also live on Hunters Green and have been saying for the almost three years that we have lived there. We need speed bumps, speed bumps, speed bumps. Signs will not do any good - people tend to ignore them. Speed bumps you can not ignore. I would be more than happy to be assessed for them if it made people slow down. I remember when we first moved in and hardly anyone had kids but us and maybe a handful of neighbors. We would be outside and cars would speed down the street like it was fair game. Now the kids have multiplied tremendously on the street and it really is only a matter of time before one may get hurt. For the most part the parents are out there with their kids or the kids are old enough to play unsupervised. Our kids do not have a playground or tot lot near us for them to utilize. Plus, if you live in the neighborhood you know there are a lot of kids that live on the street - - so why would you speed? As far as the noise from the kids playing forget about it. We live in townhouses and do not have front yards for them to play in. One of the reasons a lot of people move to our neighborhood is because it is "kid friendly" and when kids are being kids it becomes an issue.

There are pros and cons about speed bumps:

Pros: they will slow down cars

Cons: 1) in order to put them in you will need 100% of the owners of the townhomes along the road, as they will be the ones assessed the initial costs, and any maintenance needed.
    2) Speed bumps tend to cause problems with snow removal ... speed islands cost much more to put in and maintain, but are easier to plow.

So ... if you can get 100% of the homeowners in that area (including the side road) to agree to pay for them, speed bumps can be added.

Also, speed bumps tend to increase wear and tear on your cars tires, shocks and alignment, all of which can increase your overall maintenance costs for your vehicle.
