I think that it is absolutely appropriate for a professional to give their opinion and info on a topic that they know more than the average poster about.
To post a REPLY to a topic that someone has formal knowledge of is a form of FREE ADVICE!!! Why would we want to deter the pros from participating in the discussion?
Are the posts only valid if coming from amateurs?

I have no problem with a professional giving advice, and pointing people to their website ... more than that, it becomes advertising.

Friend of mine at work sold his house in Reston through realtors. What he did is looked up in the phone book (as well as word of mouth) and got a nice long list of all the local realtors. He called and got fax numbers for any not listing them, and sent them all the same fax:

I want to sell my townhouse, here are all the details (and listed everything). He even listed what other houses near him sold at. He then said he wants to sell at this certain price, and the house should sell under a week. His last statement was something like 'fax me back your best % offer to sell my house'. Phone calls will not be accepted.'

I forget what he % rate he sold at, but he said he saved a ton of money even with going with a realtor.

    Hi All !!
I decided not to do FSBO after all as I found a very reliable realtor who charged me NOTHING to conduct the WHOLE deal and to top it off, the buyer didn't bring an agent !!!!!!!!!!
It worked out perfect and I sold my house in 2 days with $15,000 more than asking price,,, All in all, it worked out great for everyone !!!!

He must be very busy as my last set of calls to him were not returned! I had spoken to him about 6 months ago to get info and he was very thorough but then when I had called more recently these calls were not returned. Now as it turns out, my husband has been extended here so we are staying put for a while longer! :)

Maybe he is on holiday. I will try his cell phone and let him know that you are going to stay a bit longer (yay!!!!!).
He is usually very responsive to clients so there must be something going on like a vacation or something.
