I really haven't "advertised" for a place around Ashburn in my two years here (save for Glory Days Caps party...but, heh, I love the Caps).

Forno is good. Their arugula and shaved parm salad is something you would get in Italy...and their pizza is quite different than the pizza you might get here...and that's a good thing! My wife and I went to Italy 2 years ago for our Honeymoon, and this place has excellent food.

The people working there are awesome as well. Friendly...but not too friendly. They have real character.

It's a very authentic Italian place and I really want to see it succeed.
I also want to watch World Cup soccer here this summer...but I'm going to root for the U.S. more than Italy. They will probably give me hell for that....but I'm ready for it!

Try out Forno next to Safeway....I think it's the kind of place we need here in Ashburn.

I have enjoyed them as well every time I have eaten there. They advertise in our HOA newsletter and so there is a coupon for 1/2 off Pasta or pizza with purchase in the Jan newsletter.

Agree that the food is good - but the service is selective (depending on where you are seated), inconsistent, and poor.

Thanks Raimondo, (I'm actually a Mrs)!

We've been to your restaurant twice - and have had to ask for service after being seated for quite some time with servers walking past us and not giving eye contact.

Then when given service, it was with an attitude, we came back after the first visit because we like your food so much, but the service was even worse.

It was Halloween with hardly anyone in the restaurant and not a single server left their station to come and serve us until we asked -and once again it was without an apology and with some what of an attitude.

Some parties received lots of attention others did not - looking around the experience seems inconsistent and there were many eyes rolling but no one on the staff or management seemed to notice.

We do hope to return, and hope that service is better. Thanks for your comment and offer.

We ate there for lunch on Sunday....the only people in the restaurant. Guess they don't do much business on Sundays.

We haven't been there since the original owners opened the place, but I can say that everything we had was excellent and we'll definitely be back. Very tasty. My wife is Italian, so taking her to an Italian restaurant is usually a difficult proposition, but she loved it.

We've gone there a number of times now, and the service has gotten better. The first two times the service was very slow, but we went back because the food was so good. But service has gotten better each time since then. Went there Monday evening and our server was excellent, as was the food.

Glad to hear it, maybe we'll give it another try - 3rd times a charm perhaps. We did enjoy the food.

Our second visit to Forno was for take-out pizza. We just got the basic pepperoni pie and a margharita pie....both very good. Will definitely go back. Good prices too. First time there the food was good but the broccoli in my dish was like mush (won't order that again), my husband liked his spaghetti with bolognase and meatballs. The service was great that night except one of the servers harrassing the fellows that cut the bread and serve it. I just wish the owner would smile more....looks like he's mad all the time :angryfire:

Not sure if folks know but Forno makes their bread fresh twice a day once in the morning and then again at 5PM. Just a sign of the homemade quality of their product. I was talking to the head chef tonight and he mentioned they don't open jars or cans, everything is homemade. I am surprised more people don't use them for take out pizza. Very good stuff.

Check out their ad on page 4 of the February newsletter. If I had a scanner I'd post it. Cracked me up!

funny! I've tried the homemade potato chips they make and serve with the sandwiches and they are addictively delish-ish. $7.99- great deal for lunch.

Just so you know...ads usually come to us in a format that we can't edit so the newsletter staff can't be held accountable!:conf3: I'm sure it will be changed in the next issue...
