I've never been really big on people using graphics in their signature block, but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

I also need to see how this could affect our bandwidth. Since we're on a 'cap' plus charge-over contract, I need to make sure what the impact would be...

Ultimately, to be honest with you, once we move to our own server, stuff like this will be a no brainer and easily implementable....

I'll see about updating to the latest version and I'll take a look at the various mods availbale these days for the software. Honestly, I haven't looked at them in close to a year... Thanks for bringing it up though; we need more feedback like this from our users...

I think there is a thread there about bandwidth and sigs. It's been a while since I checked it out but I remember discussions about sigs being on the forum server vs a link to someone's sig elsewhere.

Sorry Brim, I somehow didn't see your post... So, I'm replying 12 days later :D

Since we're using a server provided to us by a hosting company, and we're stuck running Windows, our choices are somewhat limited. We have plans to eventually migrate the whole site, including forums over to a Linux-based server. And believe me, you'll see a boatload of changes when that time comes. There are LOTS of things we don't like about these forums, etc. We just make due until we can finally move away to our own 'box'...

The software used here is free; the Tech Committee is cheap! ;)

When we migrate to Linux, we'll probably get something PHP-based, so PhpBB is a strong possibility...

Why not run PHP on windows until we switch over to linux? or do we not have access to install stuff on the server?

Yes, we're somewhat limited as to what we can do with the server. We pay a "dirt cheap" price, but we also don't get all the extras...

Also, not sure if you've run PHP on Windows in a production environment; it has some quirks...

GCyr: That's a good idea! Let me see if there's an add-on module... One of those "Duh! Why didn't I think of that before" things...

"windows" together with "production environment" scares me ;) I'll stick to linux/solaris thank you very much. :)

I would never run php in windows, and I'm not a big fan of php anyways... but I was just suggesting we could put something up in the meantime or something.

    I hear ya...

I'll see if something is possible, but don't hold your breath... Maybe we'll be on our own box sometime this summer (fingers crossed).

I have a suggestion to the administrators of this forum... Some other message boards I visit ususally have an "Ignore Poster" option which allows one to block out posts from members they don't want to read. Makes them (posts and posters blocked) completely invisible. Due to the vitriolic bilge being spewed by some posters lately on this forum, I for one would love to excercise this option. Is it possible given the "inexpensive" format which this forum uses?

Dutchml, not possible as of yet using the software we currently use. Once we migrate to a better platform, you bet we'll have that option.
Thanks for the great suggestion; I hadn't thought about it!

Admins, what's the status of this "peace offering"? Do you have the ability to integrate this feature? If so, what's the hold up?
