If you have lost a "older" female dog - in broadlands SOUTH please send me a PM.

Your dog attacked my 12lbs Tibetian Spaniel around 5:43PM today:mad:.

I asked my hubby to chase down your dog after it tried to attack my neighbors 4 year old son. It does not have a collar thus no ID.

Your dog is presently in my garage w/ a doggie bed, water and food - I called LSCO to dispatch LC - so hopefully the owner or friend will see this and PM me with discription of the dog in question.

Nope heading the TLC Dog ER in Leesburg - I am NOT happy about this - but I felt it was the "right" thing to do for the owner of the lost dog. Heck I'd want someone to do the same thing if it were my dog - THANK GOODNESS for dog insurance.

Oh no, pea! I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Hope all goes well at TLC! Did it harm the 4 year old too?

Can you give a better description of the dog?

It was a boxer mix, brundle colored. Was a gentle dog with me when I picked it up and carried it home (all 80 pounds). Just wanted to play I guess and did not know better to take it easy on a little dog and stay away from kids.

No bites on chewy and no injuries.

Would not stop running, but when I cought up to it, it just stopped for me.

It will stay at Loudoun county animal shelter for 10 business days while they try to find the owner. If nobody claims the dog, it will enter the adoption program.

Well it did. They basically fought or at least it seemed that way. But I did not find any pucture wounds on chewy and neither did TLC, thank goodness. So I am assuming it was really playing.

Correction to previous post: Dog was a pit bull mix. Even had I known this, I would have tried to catch it because it was running in the middle of traffic.

Pea, sorry to hear about this. It had to be more traumatic than you are portraying. Let me know if you need anything. I'll come over and babysit or dog sit if you need me. You know my number. Call.

afgm - thanks for the offer, with two dogs of our own and an infant - it was a relief to have Animal Control pick up the dog. I made sure that they would NOT put the dog down and give the owners a chance to claim their lost family member. I plan to check in with AC to make sure it is re-united with the family - if not I may have to "work" on hubby to add a new family member.

Well that's good to hear. Hopefully the owner will claim her.

    Pea-
It was extremely kind of you to take care of the female dog. And I am sure it was very scary for you, and your family.
I hope the dog finds its owner, or gets a good home. The kind of fear and excitement that dogs feel at being loose can exhibit itself in behaviors the dog would not normally exhibit. I know when Bella gets loose, she gets freaked - caught between fear of unknown, and thrill of being free. In that situation, instinct is over powered by fear.
If you do actually consider adopting the dog, let me know. I will be happy to help you with intergration, and behavior/training. I have raised a lot of bully breeds, and I can help.

If it's a pit mix will the LoCo animal control adopt it out? I know there's been some lawsuits b/c they were destroy all the pits they got that aren't claimed by owners, even after a ruling by the state that says they can't do that.

I'm not entirely sure - but chances are, since all the press coverage, and with Pea's determination, Im sure this dog will be fine. FOHA can get involved and take the dog, if it comes to that.

UPDATE - I just called animal control (spoke with JoAnna) to check the status and she confirmed the dog was reunited with the owner sometime between last night and this morning.

Ahhh...now I can let out a breathe of relief knowing the dog and owner have been reunited.
