The National Capital Astronomers Club visits The Nature Center on Sunday , January 13th @ 7PM

You are invited to a free “Star Party” Family Program!!

Members of the club will talk about constellations . We will then use several telescopes ( there may even be one that looks like Galileo’s) to view the night sky so please wear warm clothes. Afterwards we will have some hot chocolate and star cookies by the fireplace.

Would my 4 year old get it, or is this geared to older children (and their parents, of course.)

The astonomers are trying to make this a family program. Your kids would probably like the telescopes part. Maybe do some pre reading( There is a book by H.A. about constellations that might be fun) and star searching on your own before the program.

My 4 year old can name all of the planets, tell you in what order they are, which is the largest, which is the smallest, he can point to the big dipper... from that perspective he's all over it. (My husband's undergrad degree is in astro-physics.)

Do we need to contact the Nature Center to let them know we're planning on attending?
Thanks. This sounds like an interesting evening!
