WE are having trouble finding a 14x25 filter. All others in the house we have had no problem finding. Anyone have the same issue?

If you can't find them in the stores you might want to try mail order. We've purchased hard-to-find air filters from www.filters-now.com. There are lots of other sites on the Web, too, but it seems like filters-now has a good selection. You can get free shipping if you buy a certain quantity (we usually buy 6 at a time to get free shipping).

    Here are 14x25's: http://www.filters-now.com/compare.x?submit=Go&size=14X25

It would seem to me that alot of homeowners in southern walk would have the same problem as we all have the same furnace. I am just wondering if there is somewhere local we missed or it just happens the two times we were at home depot they were out?

love the site though, good resource that is for sure.

We have 3 filters that we have to buy, all different. One of them is a 12 x 30. Try finding that one. I had to have a custom permenent filter made. The other 2 are standard sizes.

I don't live in Southern Walk but I image there is only one air handler filter and the rest are filters for the air return grills. I've had mixed comments from several A/C service people about using filters at the air return grills -- both neutral and against.

The against service person said the extra filters restricted the air return flow too much and didn't recommend them because they could cause the air handler fan motor to fail early. The others were more neutral and didn't have an opinion one way or the other. I do keep a good quality filter in the air handler and change it every 30 days even if the filter packaging says it's good for 90 days. Based on what the filter looks like when I replace it, I don't know how it would last another 60 or so days.

I'm just passing along what I was told, so if someone has more knowledge on this topic, feel free to jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm... When we were given our walkthrough, they did not mention any other filters at the mechanical end. Only at the return.

We have a 14x25x1 and I've had to buy filters for 8 years now, and it depends on when you look. I look from time to time and find them at WalMart (Fair Lakes) and Home Depot (Sterling). When I find them I typically pick up a number of them, so it's been a little while since I've looked.

Search for American Air Filters on www.homedepot.com
You can buy these by the case online for about 38 bucks- or you could call our own homedepot and ask them if they are in stock before you go. If they are out, request that they order more and let you know when they are in.
