Is this the correct link to learn what's in store for future development and plans around Broadlands?

We would like to learn if any renewed talk of a YMCA, family oriented stand alone country club (non linked to any specific community), or other recreation facilities will be coming soon to Broadlands area? Does anyone know? We had thought of joining Lansdowne or Belmont, but fear they would be too oriented soley to their own residents. Seeking a reasonably priced alterantive for a 'family club' that offers good amenities/ activities (pool, golf, tennis, kid stuff, etc.) Any suggestions? or news of future development very close to Broadlands? There seems to be a lot of retail strips and new homes, but not much talk of family oriented recreation centers. We'd appreciate hearing any news.

    Thanks!

As has been posted on the forums, the Y is definitely out. The county is moving forward with building a recreation facility (like the new one at Claude Moore) on the same site. The bond referendum will be on this November's ballot. Tell everyone to GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

    Thank you Cliff,

I apologize, but I am not aware of the site location? May I ask you to clarify the exact location? Is it off of Truro Parish? Or off of Broadlands Blvd.? We will definitely vote to have something near Broadlands!

Have you heard anything about a stand alone country club in eastern Loudoun also? (golf / tennis / pool?). Closer to Broadlands than Lansdowne and not inside a community? We are aware of the new Presidential Golf academy off of Waxpool, but it is more for corporate and has no family memberships or activities for kids.

    Thanks again for your help.

The Rec Center will be along Belmont Ridge Rd, north of Truro Parish and south of the water towers.
Not aware of any other country clubs. I think a second course may be built as part of the Brambleton connumity, but not sure what type of course it is.

There is a course planned to run through Brambleton. It is designed by P.B. Dye. There's still no word on whether it will be public, semi-private, or private nor is there word on a course operator. The course has received zoning approval, so it will happen but the details of its operation remain to be worked out.

    All,
I have been looking for information on what will be available in the new Dulles28Centre shopping center. I cannot believe that there has not been more "Coming Soon" type signs. The only thing that I saw the last time I was there was the sign for a Chevy Chase Bank. Also, it appears from the design that there will also be a PNC Bank branch.

Does anyone know what else is going in there?

    Thanks
    Peter

At one point I had heard that PetsMart was trying to get in there along with La Madeleine.

This area is sorely lacking for banks so yet another Chevy Chase bank is definitely a must in any new shopping center. How many would that make in the Ashburn area now, 4 or 5?

I don't think this area is the gold mine a few talk about.

Here we go again the same stores that are just a few miles away and already exist. Guess what these same places are going to repeat themselves along Loudoun county parkway and again on rt 50 and rt 7 and on on and on If we are such a desirable area for retail why is there not more variation. I am going to die of boredom soon if this keeps up:screwy: Ok Barbara and Snow show us something new in the way of retail:)

Lee, my new good buddy, hahahahahahahaha

Quick question; what do Barbara and Snow have to do with what 'kind' of retailers rent the space in these buildings? Shouldn't we be blaming the building owners/leasing companies? Do Barbara/Snow/Loudoun County really have a say as to who will rent the space?

So, whne it comes to development ( especially commercial) I am fairly irgnorant. Brassy just informed me that on the parcel of land "up" from the swamp and across the street from the apartments, they are planning on 2 four story buildings & 2 five story buildings.

So, when these get approved is there any plan as to what is going in there? Are these being build to move existing jobs "out here" to reduce commuting traffic? Or are we simply going to be inundated with yet more Doctors, Dentists, orthodontists, mini-gyms, nail places & barber shops?

I totally agree with everyone stating that we have the same stores/restaurants over and over, however, my PEEVE is,

the traffic around there! We stopped by Wegmans about 4pm on Monday and it took us literally 25 minutes to get out and back onto Waxpool. It's totally crazy that there is one way in and one way out.

I had my camera with me so I got out and took pictures of the crazy traffic. I'm going to email them around to the government folks and media. It's just ridiculous. I cannot imagine what's going to happen when all these other stores come in.

BTW, if you like DSW check out Broadway Shoes on Russell Branch. I think their prices are better. :)

Sort of off topic but does anyone know what they are putting in over in the Ashburn Farm shopping center - between McDonalds and the Exxon.
