Looking for a GPS enabled running watch and came across this Garmin model that looked decent (though a bit over-priced? ~300/-) - In addition to the GPS capabilities, I liked the heart rate monitor and the "normal" watch functionality this model had...

Would be very interested in getting feedback or recommendations on any other model(s).

    Thanks in advance.

I bought the Garmin 205 from Amazon and paid $135. They do have the 305 for just a little bit more, but didn't need the heart monitor. The 205 has served me well and have no complaints.

I have friends who use the 405 and swear by it. Personally, I couldn't justify dropping almost $400. I use the Nike+ chip instead. It's only $35 and allows me to use my ipod to track my runs (something I wear anyway). The accuracy is definitely a bit more erratic than a GPS enabled watch, but it's typically no more than a :10 swing off on mile pace. They also just released a heart rate monitor to go with it, though I don't yet own it. Garmin definitely provides much more granular data for analysis (e.g. you can't really get good mile splits on the Nike chip), but the Nike Plus community is much better than Garmin, with millions of members and a very good interactive UI.

Cool, hadn't even thought of that option - will definitely check it out (and at my running pace, the :10 shouldn't matter - I will just assume I am faster ;-)) - Thanks.
