We recently had a run-in with a big groundhog who rode into our garage in the bottom of our car. He ate through just about every wire and foam piece before we found him. Unfortunately, we didn't trap him at the time, so he's still outside. Does anyone have a trap we can borrow? I'd be happy to drive him to the country!
Another issue is that we have new "friends" burrowing under our sidewalk. I've tried attaching a picture of the holes but couldn't get it to work. The holes are 2-3 inches wide and have formed in the last couple of weeks. Any ideas as to what I can do to get rid of the smaller critters? We're worried about our new sidewalk caving in

    Thanks!

I grew up on a lot of land and we dealt with all kinds of creatures. We always had good luck with peanut butter in the groundhog traps, although we did catch the cat once. As for the creatures under the sidewalk, we were advised that a cat is the best option. The summer after the last cat died at my parent's house, the front yard got overrun with voles who were digging small holes in her gardens. My mom called a pest guy who told us to get a cat. She did and problem was solved.

I like the cat idea :). We had something digging holes around our front sidewalk/stoop and filled them all in with rocks dug up from the garden. I haven't noticed any more holes interestingly enough.

It might be a chipmunk. They like to burrow and tunnel and they dig holes the size of silver dollars, sometimes larger.

A cat sounds like a great option but I don't want an outdoor cat. Actually I don't want any more animals but thats beside the point!
The only things we've seen around the sidewalk are rabbits and groundhogs. Neither would be in his kind of hole. We did find a dead mouse a long time ago lying on the sidewalk. Could it be mice, do you think? Maybe it is chipmunks or moles/voles but it's weird we've never seen them out there.
I got some advice to try moth balls in the holes so I'll need to do a little research on that.

From my experience, mothballs don't work. Groundhogs have entensive tunnels, so all you are doing is addressing one entrance. Trapping is the only effective method I've found.....

The smaller critters sound just like the voles we have around our front porch. They've burrowed under the sidewalk and left several holes on either side of the walkway, as well as gaping holes by the porch itself. We put 4 mousetraps right next to the holes filled with peanut butter topped with (uncooked) oatmeal and within a few days caught one. The traps remain as there are surely more than one. Good luck!
