    ditto on Sal's...pretty close to NY style...I think he's from Queens

    Brooklyn! grew up a few blocks from the Man's dad- but he DOEs travel back to NYC to get Spumoni regularly... could have Queens roots as well! :)

    I told him once my mom was from Astoria, Queens - maybe he was just being nice - or maybe he tells everyone from NY that he's from their neighborhood...LOL

    ahhh- that's funny and SUCH a New York move! love it. mahattan's near bloom also has a great pie- heading there now!

    for pizza, sal's is OK. most genuine i've found around here though is the Pomodoro over by the Best Buy plaza next to TJ Maxx.

    If you're talking about Manhattan Pizza (not sure where it is....my husband picked it up). We did not like it at all. That went right in the garbage.

    Sal's was good, but their pizza sauce isn't acidic enough...little too sweet. However, love their sauce for the dinners. I very much enjoy their baked ziti.

    Try Valpiano in Dulles Town Center. They have the closest to an European style pizza.
    The pasta is also excellent and home made!
