    Fellow Foodies--

Now that I have your attention--or not--we are asking if you want some FREE APPLES from our farm and our neighbors' farms this Fall season. Any takers?? Seriously, since Fall is officially here, we have bushels of apples to give away if interested.

I have (as well as family members/friends) been canning homemade apple butter, applesauce, making apple fritters, pies, freezing/drying apples, jams/jellies, etc. Anyway, being the "apple of my hubby's (and kids) eye(s)"--:rolleyes3:--bad pun--:pofl:--we are offering apples this Fall. I can deliver them by mid or late October (not Columbus Day weekend--we are out of town on this weekend) at the Nature Center if Maureen and HOA approves like I did the strawberries.

PM me or post on this thread if interested. I will provide apple recipes for those of you canning/freezing apples. Easy and quick to do is also my homemade applesauce recipe.

    Have a Frockling Fall--

    Foodie & Family:happygrin:

    Hi Foodie,

I would love some apples. We are getting some great ones from Great Country right now (actually, I think they are getting them from someone else), but we would love some more.

Can you bring some to the co-op pick-up on the 7th at Bruin Park? I bet everyone there would love some. You should post this to them too.

    Thanks for offering them!

    Fellow Foodies--

Thanks for the response regarding apples. We may have some available at the Bruin Park in Herndon, VA when the United Foods Buying Club has its pickup on 10/07/08 between 9 am to 11 am. For more information the Buying Club, read under the thread "Area Restaurants..." my posted info called "United Foods Organic Buying Club...". I will post if I will have some at the pickup at Bruin Park on this thread.

We will be out of town Columbus Day weekend on business so the apples may be delivered to the Nature Center (per permission from Maureen and her HOA staff) in Broadlands about mid-October (after Columbus Day). Don't worry there are plenty of apples for "y'all"!

The Pea2001--on a sidenote--we hope you are feeling better. Homemade applesauce and apple butter is easy to make for "lil pea"--.

Would any of you be able to give Kaos and Brassy apples if they wanted some? They seem like a fun couple.

Maybe we can meet some of you in the future. It has been busy here on our farm for Harvest season.

Oh, Foodkie - I would love some apples, too! You are very generous indeed! How do you make your apple butter? I usually pick some up at the Waterford Festival; reminds me of all my relatives gathering to make it when I was a kid (a couple years ago).

As long as they can be picked up during regular business hours, I see no problem. Just give me a heads up on how many people are signed up. Put me down for some too...We use to pick our own every year but now that the kids are grown, I haven't been out to the orchard!

    Fellow Foodies--

First of all, thanks for PM'ing us or posting on this thread your interest in our apples and our neighbors' apples. The apple variety may be Mollie's Delicious apple which is a cross between Golden Delicious and Stayman apples.

There are several varieties that friends (farmers) of ours has in MD & PA on their farms. If our apple crops are not plentiful, we will be happy to bring apples from our friends' farms. Probably 2 cases (which is 15-20 quarts or 2 bushels) will be what I can donate.

Thanks, Maureen, for letting me bring the apples. I will have the pickup list of people who requested their share of apples by posting on this thread or PM'ing me their request as we did with the strawberries earlier this Summer.

Charlotte and others who requested my apple butter and applesauce--as well as other apple recipes--I will post the apple recipes soon on the thread "Area Restaurants..." called "Recipe Roundup...". Just look for the recipes (as well as others) on this thread.

Probably the apples will be delivered after Columbus Day weekend. I will post info on this thread/post.

Also, here is some interesting information and links about the Mollie's Delicious apples that we grow on our farm. We have planted more fruit trees (not just apples) this year. Our apple trees are producing nicely.

    www.yourbackyardgarden.com/Apple_Trees.html

I believe I can get some Cortland apples from our friends' farms. I will check with them when we visit them soon. We have a Farmers' Cooperative meeting near Columbus Day weekend in PA so I will post a definite time and date for apples to be picked up at the Nature Center.

    Have a good weekend--

We'd love some, too, if it isn't too late to get in on your generous offer. I am too pregnant to go apple picking this year in the orchards like we usually do, but would still love to make some applesauce and other yummy things.

    Fellow Foodies--

Here is an update on the FREE APPLES offer from our farm and friends' farms. We just returned from GA for a 2 week trip. One of my parents' barns burned down so while we there originally for a family wedding--we also were building a barn for my parents along with other family members and friends.

We did not forget the FREE APPLES offer for "y'all". I am traveling (along with my sister and brother-in-law--husband at home with kids) early Wednesday, 10/15/08 to PA for our Farmers Cooperative meeting in Lancaster, PA. We will be back with apples (ours aren't as much as we thought--only about 1 bushel--to give away) from my relatives' farms who have told me to give them away. I will post Applesauce, Apple Butter, and other Apple recipes on the "Area Restaurants..." thread under the post called "Recipe Roundup..." within 2 weeks.

Also, before or after 10/23/08, I will post on this thread when and where the apples will be dropped off at the Nature Center in Broadlands. Maureen will have a copy of the list from the people who already PM'd me or posted their interest previously on this thread. I may have other veggies to bring; and I will post here the info also.

This time of year we (and our family/relatives) have been harvesting an abundance of tomatoes, greens, lettuces, still melons, corn, beans, apples, etc. I may have some Concord Grapes too from my cousins and other relatives' farms. I will post with details. It will be a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) for the apples and misc. items if there are any.

Your name(s) will be left with Maureen and her staff. Hopefully, there will plenty of apples to go around. I am thinking around 2-4 bushels. Since my relatives pack them in boxes for their farm markets to sell in PA, they will be already packed in boxes and you will just take whatever you need. Please do leave enough for others.

I will post further details after 10/21/08 for pickup and other info. Thanks again.

Have a good week and beautiful Fall.

    Foodie & Family:)
