Since "y'all" have been discussing Mezza Grill, I thought I would add some Greek and Italian restaurants that some of you may not be aware of:

Mediterrean Breeze, Located in OLD Ashburn, VA (Near Partlows Market). No web site but Phone Number is (703) 726-1045We have been to this location and thought food, service, and price points were good.

www.amphorabakery.com (Amphora Bakery and Diners--located in Vienna and Herndon.) Fantastic Greek and Italian Food. Herndon Amphora Diner is open 24/7. Full service breakfasts all day and night. Never closes. Vienna Amphora restaurant is great. Pastries, cakes, (especially the Christmas Yule Log is great!), and other bakery goods are better than anywhere else.
    YUMMO!

www.the-italian-gourmet.com (The Italian Gourmet is a great place in Vienna, VA that also has an authentic Italian Deli next door which house Italian meats, homemade raviolis of all types, homemade pastas, etc.)

"The Breeze" in both Ashburn and Herndon have the same menu so does the "Mezza Grill" But as far as service goes, speed and what is most important, consistency... "Mediterranean Breeze" Herndon is my chioce.

Also they are now having Greek Nights, they are a LOT of fun, with live Greek Music and dancing. My husband, I and some friends went to the Greek Night last month and had a lot of fun. They serve Greek appetizers from 10:00pm to 1:00am but The band plays until 3:00 -4:00 in the morning.

They are having another Greek Night on March the 31st.
Check it out, It's a lot of fun.

I went to Mediterranean Breeze in Ashburn for lunch today (first time there) & had a nice experience.

My gyro & Greek salad were excellent, as was my wife's spinach pie. Prices were reasonable, as were the portions.

Since it was great weather we ate outside, but the inside dining area looked nice as well. I would definitely go back.

I'll still drive to the Italian Store in Spout Run and Primo's in Belle View (Alexandria).

    Hi Foodie,
On you recommendation, my husband was so excited to go to the Italian Gourmet that he decided this is where he wanted to go on his birthday. Unfortunately we couldn't find it and wondered if maybe it was closed. Of course, we were also driving around looking for it with two fussy kids so we had to abort the mission early. Also, their website was not working that day so we thought for sure it closed, but I see today their website is functioning. Any suggestions you could give us on exactly where it is. We were probably so very close, since we had the address and everything. Any landmarks you could suggest?
    Thanks.

It is a tiny place in Vienna, no seating, just carry out. In the shopping center corner of 123 and Nutley. Strip type mall with large evergreen tree in the middle. Diagonally across from the mexican restaurant.

    KP Family and others--

Yes, the Italian Gourmet is carry out and offers frozen ready-made entrees and sauces for your freezer or to eat at home. Great food and service is offered. The store is at West Maple Avenue--across from Tequila Grande Mexican restaurant. Their entrees will last about three to six months is freezer. Sauces (pesto and marinara) will last about two to three months. Most hard and semi-hard cheeses will store in freezer (if stored properly with air removed from containers/freezer bags) for about two to three months also.

The Italian Gourmet also FLASH FREEZES some items and you do need to use HEAVY DUTY freezer bags unless you wish.

If you would (or any one else) is interested in DIRECT ORDERING from Italian food purveyors that serve high-end gourmet and grocery stores and restaurants--let me know and I will be happy to provide a list or info where you order from directly. For instance, Wegmans and Whole Foods carry an Italian gelato ice product called Ciao Bella Gelato. However, they DO NOT carry ALL of their flavors. You can direct order from the company and it comes on dry ice in styrofoam coolers in GREAT FROZEN condition. We order all the time since we live beyond Leesburg area not quite in Western Loudoun.

www.ciaobellagelato.com (Ciao Bella's web site offers over 20-30 flavors--I believe.)

    Good eats--

    Foodie
