    Hi,

Anyone have any luck with any methods of keeping bunnies away from new bushes in the yard? Have tried premixed spray from Lowes, Pepper, Moth Balls, screen, some egg concoction recipe from Internet, etc...

No luck keeping bunnies away from gobbling new bushes.

I have had limited success with Hot Pepper Wax spray. And zero success planting marigolds, the bunnies have eaten them as well. So I have ramped up and the following *combination* is now working for me:

    1. garlic powder sprinkled around the area
    2. installed plastic fencing (9" tall - which shouldn't be tall enough but they are keeping away from it now)
    3. sprinkling hair clippings
    4. fake snake made out of soaker hose

And the best of all.... I do own a couple guns. Just kidding. I have heard the garlic powder thing before. I would give that a try.

When we lived on Marsh Creek ... Suzanne used this stuff she ordered from an online company, Gardens Alive (www.gardensalive.com) that sells natural pest controls, etc.

She used to buy lacewings and ladybugs to handle the insect pests, and she bought this stuff 'Deer Off' repellant that works against deer and rabbits. http://www.gardensalive.com/product.asp?pn=7027, this stuff stinks to high heaven, but it did work.

Trouble was that you had to reapply after it rained, but it did great against the rabbits. They now have a new product that lasts 6 months, and is rain-proof: Plantskydd Deer Repellant, that you mix with water and spray on the plants. http://www.gardensalive.com/product.asp?pn=2618.

    I'd try either one.

Coffee grounds have worked for us (as well as ground chilli pepper)...it makes the plants taste bitter, so bunnies and deers stay away from them.

Just an FYI for sensitive folks; usually, this kind of stuff is actually a mixture of URINE and other stuff. It's safe, but does stink because, well it's basically urine ;)

    Works quite well though...

This particular product though does NOT contain urine, but is made of rotten eggs, hot peppers and garlic. YUM! Also great as a salad topper!
