Did this crop up recently, or did I completely miss it when I lived there ?? I should have seen something that obvious.

    Cliff,

Can you comment on the house with the "brick front yard"?

Only that what you see left is what was approved by the Modification Subcommittee.

I'd love to see a picture of that one!! Hopefully, its not like the houses I see in Arizona or Florida that are 'maintenance free' with white rock, or green painted asphalt !! :poke:

I used to live in Scottsdale and we were PROHIBITED from having grass in our front yards. We were prohibited (city regulation, if I'm not mistaken) from having any non-native plant, as a matter of fact. I realize it is an acquired taste and very different for those who've never lived in the desert, but I found it quite beautiful. And more importantly, it didn't take much water which of course is in short supply out there.

I realize about the water issues, and I love the way some yards are setup with native desert plantings and small pebbles/rocks, but some were all rock ... Ugh!!

Well, heck... HERE we are all rock, too. Most of us just try to get grass and plants to grow over the top of it. [IMG]

Yes, I am on the Modification Sub-Committee.

And what you see now is no where near what was originally designed AND installed. The homeowner did not submit an application before having the work done. As for "taste", it is an individual thing. You seem to think Goose Creek is a decent course, I don't.
As long as the homeowner stays within guidelines, an application has a good chance of being approved.

This is why it is important to make sure you submit an application BEFORE starting any 'outside the home' modification (maintenance and repair of exisiting items excluded, also the replacement with a like-item).

Once again, I'll bring this topic back to the original post (but only for a while, I'm sure).

I am now adhering to the requirement to keep my green garbage can out of site of the road. However, now that it's taken care of, I see another eye sore that I'd like to report. As I drove down my road I've seen, now sit down, a few gray garbage cans! How will I be able to deal with this assault on my visual senses? All green garbage cans are hidden but now to have to witness this blatant disregard for neighborhood congruity! What am I to do? Does anyone have any recommendations for this seeming violation to the color scheme of the area? Please, please, help!
