Any of you guys have D-box/bass shakers in your seating/platforms?

D-Box starts at 10k so you won't find it at my house *smile*. I have considered shakers but the problem is that it's either subtle and good or gimmicky. I think as long as you don't want major shaking, it works. If you turn it up too much then you will get shakes on deep voices and stuff that should not shake. I hope someone has it .... I'd like to hear (feel) more implementations to get a better opinion.

yeah, it would be nice if there was an (standard) additional non-audio channel that could be used for effects triggering, etc.

So if we tried to meet next week, would we get better attendance if it was Thursday night vs Friday? If we meet Thursday I would ask that we try to do it later, around 8:30 - 9:00.

And I guess we should plan to bring pencil and graph paper too! Easier to tell the HT Geeks....

Next Thursday at 8.30pm sounds good. Did we decide on a venue?
    I'll have a lot of questions! :)

I have never been but heard good things about the new owner and based on the website, the place looks pretty good.

    http://broadlandssportsbarandgrill.com/home.html

If you all have been there, you think it is a good choice? The beer selection is good and I am sure if we contact the owner and let them know we are coming, we should get a good reception etc.

It hasn't won over many (even under the new ownership/refurb) - but it serves it's purpose :)

I may join in on the fun. Just wrapping up the framing on our media room. Planning an HD projector tucked away in its own niche firing through optical glass, and Ceiling mounted surround that integrates with my iTunes lib, but way out of the loop on equipment these days. Maybe one Friday or Saturday I'll provide the pints while getting some pointers on-site?

Here's my media room plans from when I first started. Small design updates have went in since I created this, but for all intents and purposes the main features of the room are still the same. Not a truly 'dedicated' media room per se, but hoping to be able to immerse myself into great concert footage at actual concert volumes as the mood strikes. Will definitely be light-proof - boxing in the exit with a 'mud room'. All a/v equipment will be external to the space.

Idea's & suggestions more than welcome and appreciated...

ok great stuff going on so lets do this. I am excited to see if we can get a few of us to the pub, especially since we could have a Brit there, or at least and ex-Londoner.

So I have to wait for my wife to get home a 8:30 but plan to come over right after on Thursday. Lets try the Broadlands Sports bar and Grill. I will give them a call and at least let them know some of us would be coming over... perhaps it is worth an appetizer and or free round.

Lets plan to meet at one of the larger tables next to the bar... anybody else coming?

as of right now, I'm there.

Related question to Boomer (or anyone else using XBMC).. do you have performance issues with accessing a WMC through the XBOX?

Mine sucks wind but I haven't jumped too much into the hows and whys yet... Is your audio collection hosted through WMC, iTunes, or other? When I wire up the basement I am considering an HTPC-Cablecard/NAS but am a little worried about being able to access it remotely...

Count me in chaps - I'll be the brown skinned fella ;)
Just a side note have had a couple of contractors come round to give me an est on finishing the room that I'm planning for the HT.

I do not, but I'm only using WMC as included with Win7 - not a dedicated server.

Xbox was one of the better playing streaming clients.. except when everyone started going MKV.. :(

I am getting a new sony blu ray today that I am hoping will be my new media player as it has pretty robust format support

I don't use WMC anymore since I have FiOS DVRs... too bad they never were able to make the xb360 run XBMC. Not sure why it's called XBMC anymore since it runs mainly on PCs, Apple TVs, etc =)

Thanks, miststated that - I was actually referring to WMC through the 360.

Picking up a cable card on the way home and going to rewire everything this evening in hopes of decent performance/functionality, i don't think I have attempted it with my current tower...

Bummer to be missing out in this thread, we decided to pack up the kids and drive around like the Griswalds. Mick - be sure to let me know what ideas you get out of this meet. And don't get started without me, I've got some ideas for you too!

Found my WMC issue... NIC was buzzing 10mbps but is flying now and is working pretty well :) downer is that my new box doesn't support pci, so my 'old' dvr card is useless :( what a waste of tech...

Nathan, enjoy the trip, nothing like quality fam time!
Darren came by today to take a look at the room, very professional and someone I would trust.

Let me know when get back, perhaps we can sit down over a beer and discuss some ideas...
