Sure - because I really hope some parent reads this and starts asking tough questions at the dinner table.

Last night ( 8-21-08 ) as my daughter and I were taking out garbage (about 9:00 PM) I heard some bikes. No big deal - not overly bright riding unlit bikes down a busy unlit street - but "normal" for a suburban summer night. A quick glance revealed four males peddeling away. Once out of the pool of light cast by my lamp post the four of them started to yell back; "I AM GOING TO F:censored: YOUR WIFE!" "AND YOUR GIRL!" "REALLY HARD!" etc. and kept heading twords Claibourne. Sadly - I lost my head a bit and called them out, but they kept going. As I got the recycleables they decided to head back until they saw me come back out of the garage at which point they pulled a U-Turn back to Claibourne and continued their verbal barrage of sexual threats.

Yes - the police were called and they visited. The Deputy said he was pretty certain he knew who they were :)scaredeyes: GOSH! Really??? I'm SO surprised). Due to the lack of streets lights on our little chunk of pavement he said he'd put us on the "Patrol a bit more" list.

Of course, I am fighting the urge to dig out the black BDUs and the broom handle :devil2: but that would be assault of a minor and I'd be forced to stop posting for a while as I understand the Internet connectivity at LCP is kinda bad.

:angryfire: Now, I'm more than unusually pissed at this for a number of reasons - most of them obvious so I will not go there. I think the biggest reason I am so cheesed is because Brassy and I have nothing but good thoughts about the kids in this area and have volunteered way too many hours with Scouts & Band to be treated like this. Yeah - I'm taking it too personally, but you know what - I am really getting sick and tired of (and yes - I am going to say it - ready - here it comes.....) bad parents allowing their kids to run rough shod over our neighborhood. I bet if we bust these hoodlums we also bust the goombahs that vandalized the nature trail & graffitied the tunnels, etc.

    To quote Tod from "Parenthood";

"You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - heck, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any :censored: be a father."

Thank you for letting me rant - I'll put the soap box away, I apologize for my lousy slpeling.

check the news briefs.. you'll see at least two kids have been busted for some of the graffiti recently.

It's sad in such a well off area, we have so many kids that are so ungrateful for what they have

My father was a 33 year career Army officer. When I was a kid, if I had pulled a stunt like this, you wouldn't have had to bother kicking my ***. He would have been sure to do it for you! [IMG]

We never had any problems from the other kids on the street either...Dad had express permission to 'lay down the law' from the other parents as well and vice-versa.

    Boy, times sure have changed...

FWIW, I probably would have reacted similarly.

Kaos - that might explain the 3 LCSO patrol cars we saw last night having a 20+ minute conversation w/ 2 kids on bike @ Claiborne adjacent to the SouthernWalk Pool (around 9:30ish).

I'm sorry that your daughter had to hear such sexually charged slurs - its disgusting and uncalled for. What are these teenage boys thinking?

The problem is that they aren't thinking.

About a month ago, my neighbor and I were walking on a path down Claiborne pkwy, south of Broadlands Blvd, on the path on the west side of Claiborne. There was a house that backs to Claiborne that has a trampline in the back yard. There were 4-5 tween or teen boys on the trampoline, and they started calling out to us, talking about our "assets" and just being completely vulgar. There was a dad up on the deck barbecuing, and I really don't think he heard what they were saying to us, so we stopped, got the dad's attention and told him all the things these hooligans were shouting. Needless to say, the kids AND the dad were quite embarrassed, as well they should be... I guess these kids thought we would just ignore them and keep on walking.

I, for one, have no problem parenting other peoples kids, especially when the parents aren't willing to do it themselves, which does seem to happen pretty often around here.

I'd like to add that the deputy stated that with a prior issue, he had taken the kid by the collar and shown the parents who came to get him, a picture of what the kid had been doing, and the parents then claimed the kid wasn't theirs!!!!

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE THESE DAYS! Just Like my pal JLC spoke to me about the kids stealing beer out of the neighbors garage, who when cornered by the homeowner, said they hadn't meant to do anything...WHAT OTHER THAN GOING INTO THE OPEN GARAGE ON PURPOSE!!! Give me a break.

In our situation, the deputy had a good idea of where these kids hang out off Village Drive so obviously they've been tagged before.

Uh I have to say we never had ANY issues when we lived in "the Farms" Been here 5 years - 1 mile down the road more or less. who knew it would be so drastically different! When my girl was a wee thing she loved to find a way to get out of the house. my neighbors were aware of this and would call me to let me know she was loose again...usually happened when I was loading the washing machine.

When she was about 4 we installed a lock on our front door that is like what you have in hotels. we showed her she couldn't get out and she burst into tears. Doncha know the very NEXT day, she took a stool to the door, stood on top and opened the lock! Good thing I caught her.

These days my soon to be 15 yr old is recognizing that she is receiving unwanted attention (first began early last year). Although she says she may not always understand some of our rules, she says she is glad we care enough about her to make them and stick to them. She herself cannot understand why some parents are not teaching their kids to be well mannered, polite and to have morals.

I've run into good kids around the neighborhoods, but when they go rotten, I will admit the LCSO really does step up. Both my wife and I have called them before and had very quick responses to the calls, and one of them had to do with a group of unruly "kids" who are old enough to know better. Thankfully since that visit, there have been no further problems with that particular group.

Did they say where? I'm wondering if I'm also familiar with this group of "kids" -- there seem to be a handful of wannabe-gangs in the Village Drive corridor.... One of which I'm very suspicious about when it comes to the graffiti issues.

If these kids come as close to the inner portion of my property threatening me, I'll def. pump some heat that way. I don't give damn if they young or old, my Desert Eagle .45 doesn't discriminate.
