    Friends

I live in Overlandpark (Washington Homes) . We found out yesterday that there is no Attic access to check the insulation/duct in the master bedroom closet. It is a construction fault. I have been complaing from 11 months about the temperature difference( 10 degrees on bad day) between master bedroom and the rest of the house..we spent lot of manoy for heaters/central humidifier/doctors etc due to this issue.. my new born child, my husband had health issues because of this.
Nobody listened to us all these 11 months.Yesterday the duct checking guy went into the model home and confirmed taht there is ahs to be access and then when we called WH , they said they will see what they can doto this.

They always told me that they cannot do anything about the temp difference because they built it to the county code( which they did not).Is there anyway I can complain to the county or can some one suggest me what I do about this?

    Thanks

No access to attic? I would check with your neighbors or do a poll to determine if they have an way to the attic. I know in my place I have a cutout in the closet but I don't have an attic ladder. I guess it was a way to cut cost. But I have access to my attic.

About the temp difference, that's not a problem for the builder even though the designer could have done a better job. There should be vents in the attic to let the hot air out. Before I purchased my home, a friend told me to get an attic fan cause it made a big difference in his home. And I did. I did read something that an attic fan may be bad due to negative pressure in the attic but I'm sure my fan doesn't have a high enough CFM to cause this.

Do you have an attic fan? If so, maybe the builder forgot to turn it on or set the temp correctly. Thats what Miller and Smith did. My home inspector discovered that the fan was off and the temp was set so high it would never turn on even in the hot summer. But regarding the access, check with other owners of the same model.

There is no access at all in my house. Loudoun county officials did confirm that there has to be an access and are going to talk to Washington homes.

    Thanks
