Some people have more material to work with. My side has been given thousands of pages of material to work with. Attacking the petition and the effort behind it is working with facts, and has nothing to do with chewing someone's opinion up.

I do find it interesting that the only retort seems to be to attack the messenger rather than deal with facts. The list is bogus, INOVA should admit it, apologize to it's supporters and move on. They should find something worthy that supports their cause, rather than trying to fabricate support. That's exactly what this is, a fabrication. That is certainly a legitimate target.

Supporters of INOVA should be outraged. This petition is a fabrication, what about all those people that stood up at the public hearing? Was that a fabrication? Were the rumors that they were mostly employees of INOVA true? How about the Cornwall campus closure threat, was that a fabrication? How about the rumor that Kelly is telling employee's they'll lose their jobs if BRMC is built? Is that a fabrication?

I don't understand why this petition issue isn't shut down for the sake of INOVA. It puts into question everything INOVA does, fairly or not. They are either extremely arrogant, or they don't see the damage it does. (More friendly advice).

Some users are bordering on very personal attacks. STOP THIS BEFORE IT GOES ANY FURTHER.

    Thank you.

    The title of this article is as follows;
    "
    Anti-Hospital Petitions Contain Errors"

I saw no references in the article to fraud. That seems inflammatory and inaccurate.

I believe fraud (intentional deception) in this instance is unproven. The article didn't mention fraud, thus the subject line of this thread is inaccurate. I wouldn't call the author of this thread fraudulent for the inaccuracy of the subject line, merely incorrect.

'we didn't mean to' has been the sole defense of Donna from the start. aka the ignorance defense.

    - I don't know how those emails got on there
    - I don't know why you are still on there
    - I don't know how those names got on there
    - duplicates are inevitable... multiple people were working on it
    - etc etc etc

Never once has the group faced up to their deceptive ways, instead trying to claim ignorance and yet they continue to do the same over and over again. Credibility is completely lost. And as afgm stated, I think the groups are doing a disservice to those who do have a valid voice to be heard by having their opinion dirtied by all the crap thrown in with their valid submissions.

    How about.. intentional negligence?

The behavior has repeated itself for years... just forget about honesty, integrity, or diligence.. you can just claim ignorance after the fact and put on puppy dog eyes.

Keep focusing on the semantics as opposed to the issue at hand. I'm sure that's going to make everything better. Changing the subject of this thread to "Mountain Goats of Nigeria" won't change the fact that the petitions are flawed and that they are now discredited and should be potentially discounted. Donna and her team did a major diservice to your cause and yet you continue to defend her.

Cobymom, you have every right to your opinion. But might I suggest that if you are against BRMC, don't associate yourself with a group of folks that will dilute/discount your opinion. At the very least, don't try to defend the very people that are hurting your cause; it will simply make your voice a lot harder to hear, or even mute it all together.

I was just making a point that the article didn't mention fraud, therefore saying the petition was found to be fraudulent is inaccurate.

I agree that Donna, knowing the petition would be scrutinized, should have made a concerted effort to turn in a petition that would pass such scrutiny. Obviously that didn't happen and I'm disappointed in the effort Donna and her group made.

Hospital? Who needs one of those anywhere? Lets just settle this and let the land be used for nail salons, burger joints, thai restaurants and dry cleaners.

Off-topic. This thread is about the petition, not the hospital. I never said a hospital shouldn't be built.

I can't help but wondering if this would fall into the perview of case law surrounding petitions used to affirm legal qualification for voting. As you know, people have indeed gone to jail for this kinda of "inaccuracy" otherwise know as fraud.

If I were responsible for this petition, I would most certainly would be concerned about the very real legal consequences. I would seek legal advice about my potential exposure.

I'm not a lawyer...don't want to be a lawyer...generally have great distain for lawyers...bankers...pretty much everyone. :notfunny:

I think comparing voter fraud to inaccuracies in a petition in opposition to a local zoning issue is preposterous. Come on!

I don't think I have ever seen a petition organized on a hotly debated issue that was not scrutinized by the other side. I am sure there are some inaccuracies, but they do not rise to the level of fraud or criminal charges. It is possible that such inaccuracies could be an honest mistake or a plant from the other side (I am not saying this is definitely the case, just that it is possible).

I am not a lawyer either, but I do not share your disdain for them.

How can the public take a look at this list? I want to make sure my name isn't on it (not that it SHOULD be but it sounds like it could, given the "inaccuracies"-notice I didn't use the word fraud).

Where did these people get this list?
