Update (although the system is still not working upstairs):

I re-installed the old thermostat and now I get no power to that. That tells me I must have blown a fuse or circuit somewhere. I did find a fuse on the ignition controler and that's good and all the circuit breakers are shut.

I don't have any of the furnace manuals (does anyone?). Therefore, I'm not sure if this is a fan problem (are there two fans one for upstairs and one for downstairs), a vent problem (are the upstairs and downstairs controlled by two different sets of dampers), ot something else. I searched the web for any info on the ignition controller and did not find anything. Any help will be appreciated. Otherwise, it's a call to the furnace folks.

    Last update (for now):

I located the blown fuse and replaced it. Both zones are working fine.

    Zansu,

I agree. And HD is only 2.3 miles away! I used to have drive 12 miles so I've cut my project time considerably!

The biggest problem with two-zone systems is that the programmable thermostats that are designed for Heat Pumps seems to be more difficult to install than the standard ones. We had an electrician out to do several items (installing ceiling fans, etc.), and we asked him to install programmable thermostats. The one for the furnace was no problem, but he had so much trouble with the one for the heat pump that we ended up reinstalling the original thermostat.

    Ha...'Upper Decker'.

Look up 'upper decker' on Urban Dictionary if you're not familiar. :)
