Need Help! Insulating room above garage

Just in a hurry to save the planet : )

Technical user error sorry... We have the same problem with the room above the garage.

 

We're having Ardently Green come on 2/9 to insulate the garage ceiling,plus cantilevers, plus install an attic tent, plus add attic insulation, plus seal ducts, plus install thermostat-controlled heat tape to plumbing pipes. I'll let you know how it goes.

There's other work to be done, such as correcting the faulty insulation in the crawl space. (Van Metre installed it on the floor of the space, rather than on the ceiling, so effectively the crawl space is not insulated at all.) We're going to try to have the other work done later this year.

 

Spray foam is great, and expensive. Of course if your walls are already drywalled in - they can't do anything for you.

 

So, has anyone been successful in stabilizing the temperature in the room over the garage?

 

Well we had 3 estimates and had Advantech Group come out and insulate the attic more, they blew insulation in the cieling of the garage and the attic space that hangs over the garage. It has made a big difference in the room. Advantech did a great job and we very well priced. The other 2 companies were out of their minds with what they wanted to charge!!! It was well worth the money, the room is much better!!

 

Ditto here. Unimpressed with the design, materials, and craftsmanship of my VM home.

 

I talked to an insulator on an estimate for my attic and he suggested closed cell foam insulation on common walls for garage space next to interior space. Foam might do the trick tho
