Need Help! ipad/iphone help

I somehow managed to mess my email account up on my ipad/iphone. People used to advertise computer help in the newsletter but not the recent one. I am house bound due to an injury so can't take it anywhere for help. I'm sure it is a simple fix and need my email desperately for mail from doctors etc. Is there anyone out there that can help? I'm sure someone with knowledge can fix it quickly. It just isn't recognizing the email account. The info in settings appears to be correct so I don't know why it won't recognize the email account.
