Does anyone have any HOA approved suggestions for keeping the solicitors from walking straight through my mulch, landscape lighting and bushes when placing brochures and other crap on my front door?

I am thinking about threading a wire about a foot and a half high using stakes so that the solicitors get tripped up but then realize that this may be a little much and I have no desire to be sued for tripping the jack asses that have broken my lighting and killed many expensive plants and bushes in my front walkway. Hahaha...

I saw some very nice wrought iron edging at Lowe's but they might not be tall enough to stop the solicitors.
I have a fully equipped townhome with video camera that records the solicitors walking through my landscaping. It is frustrating, at best.

Has anyone found anything that works?

You could call the companies that leave the brochures and ask them to replace broken lighting, plants, etc.? Or at least tell them you specifically boycott companies who advertise this way (if they hear that enough maybe they'll find a different way to advertise)?

I'm pretty sure the advertisers just pay some random people to walk the neighborhood and distribute their materials; I don't think they have a distribution list so I don't think you'd be able to stop the materials from coming by asking them. I think some kind of physical barrier would be your best option. I'd recommend going for something visible as opposed to a trip wire, just hoping to encourage the solicitors to walk around.

In the townhouse section of the neighborhood, they usually stick the materials in the railings rather than walk up the stairs. I had a neighbor who wrapped the ends of his railings in saran wrap so they couldn't shove their crap in it.

I always call those companies and tell them I specifically will not buy from them since they insisted on pushing it through my door crack instead of using the box under my mailbox (its intended use?).

You could hide bear traps in the shrubbery.
