I just got home from an awesome experience at Puccio's in Broadlands. Restaurants usually receive feedback whenever they have a bad experience, but I think good businesses should get kudos whenever they deserve it!

We stopped in for the first time to grab a bite and as soon as we got to the cashier, we felt so welcomed and not rushed at all. The menu had a lot of sandwiches to choose from and they use Boar's Head meat, which is my favorite...so I was really happy to see that. I was also excited that they serve breakfast as well.

My husband had their reuben sandwich, which was terrific! The meat and the bread tasted like it was just sliced even though it was close to closing time. We also were able to watch the UCLA game on their plasma mounted in the corner and that was great!

The guy that was working noticed that I hadn't finished all of my sandwich and kindly approached me to see if everything was okay or if he could offer something else...he insisted on packing something for me so I took him up on the offer and when I got home, I found a brownie in my bag as well. I was totally surprised and really pleased to see a business that cared so about their customers' satisfaction. I think other Ashburn restaurants could take some lessons from Puccio's. Now that's good service! We'll definitely return and recommend them to others.

If you're craving a good deli sandwich in a casual, friendly atmosphere, I highly recommend them!!

Thanks, VACLIFF. I appreciate your feedback. I didn't say always - I said usually.

    Re: KUDOS for Puccio's!!

we had a very good (albeit simple) breakfast there Saturday morning- my husband asked for milk for his coffee and they didn't have any, so he settled for the powdered coffeemate they did have. but within 5 minutes, someone returned from Safeway with both milk and half and half in hand, and poitely came to us to let my husband know they had milk now if he still wanted it.

should they have had milk on hand to begin with- SURE! but the fact that they sent someone immediately to get it AND told my husband about shows customer concern that we really appreciated.

that combined with great food will make us regulars there for sure!

Christian Puccio [the owner] has been in there every time I have gone. Never had a bad experience there but it is busy.

Went for the first time yesterday. An Italian grinder made the way it should be, even with oregano! Menu looked fantastic, from an Italian's point of view at least. I will return for sure, but the slightly high prices may limit my frequency . . .

I have eaten at Puccio's several times, and being from NY I know a good sandwich when I have one. I have searched all over for a NY style deli and Christian hit the spot. Keep up the good work.......

Great sandwiches and remember to take a look in the local clipper magazine, there have been buy one, get the second 1/2 off coupons for Puccio's. And I am sure he will keep offering these :)

Also, a suggestion would be to add more choices in the way of salads - you know those typical ones that you see in the deli case in any NY/NJ deli and offer some of the typical bagel stuff too like lox, whitefish, herring etc. I am driving up there this weekend and am getting tired of only having this stuff once a year...:(

    Re: KUDOS for Puccio's!!

Some friends and I went there for breakfast recently and I was disappointed with this visit (liked my previous afternoon one). We had kids with us and they had no hot chocolate and no chocolate milk. That's not a big thing, but in a community with so many kids, I was expecting to have something of that nature there. The staff wasn't as friendly this time, either.

When we went for lunch a while back, we had a great experience, so it's probably just a matter of working things out. We'll keep going, just maybe not for breakfast with the kids.

No problem woopity. My wife is due in March and I've found out the hard way not to mess with a pregnant woman. And for Villager I've ordered Chocolate Milk. I've gotten several requests for it and was trying to find which one of my distributors offered it. Should be in today.

It's great to have a local merchant willing to listen to his customers and who appreciates and responds to feedback. Thanks! And we'll be sure to support you business. I love the marinated (?) peppers, by the way.

Ditto on the whitefish and lox. Add some sturgeon too!
The only place I can find good jewish sould food is in Fair Oaks at Chutzpah's.
It would be FAB to have that option in the neighborhood!

    Re: KUDOS for Puccio's!!

If you guys like Puccio's, obviously you haven't been to a real deli like Attman's (or the old Jack's) in Corned Beef Row in Baltimore. I ordered a corned beef on rye with mustard at Puccio's -- and was sadly disappointed. Instead of jewish rye, it came on some black and white marble type of bread that was average at best. And the Boar's Head meat was ok. In fact, I could have gone to the Safeway deli next door and gotten better bread and the same meat for much cheaper.

I call BS Barfly. Baltimore is a poor second to real northern deli food and too far to drive for lunch. Safeway's deli is just plain bad.

I had Puccios cater a party today. He delivered it himself and my in-law from Brooklynn loved it.

    Re: KUDOS for Puccio's!!

Barfly I'm sorry for your disappointment. We try to keep everybody happy. There are numerous choices for rye bread so we chose a marble rye that has a bit of light and a bit of dark. I disagree with the meat at Safeway. There quality is WELL below average and overpriced! Boars Head is the best out there. And when you want the best you gotta pay for it. Sorry. I could have used the same meat that safeway uses and be making huge profit margins too. However we pay more attention to quality here. Anyone can go to one of my competitors for cheaper food, but you get what you pay for. If you want a BIG corned beef sandwich like carnegie or attmans I can definately prepare it for you. Ask for me next time you come in and I'll take care of you.
