Hey, I live in the broadlans and I was wondering, im sure that you would attract more people to the LAN if you offered a prize of somesort. Also if the game was changed from COD:2 to Counter Strike: Source. You could charge a fee to get in and a prize for the winner. I dont know how you were planning on setting it up but there are many counter-strike: source LANS around that offer cash prizes. COD:2 is fine but I think more people would be attracted to counter-strike: source and a prize for winning. Also, is this just for individuals or a 1v1 tournament? Can teams attend. I know I could bring at least 1 person to compete with me if there was a team competition.

    Thanks.

I know at the last lan party it was bf2 and it was fun there was just not alot of people there, and as many of us know that the broadlands assosiation can not support us with everything thats why there are no prizes.

That's why i was thinking of an admission fee. To get things going and more people to attend with a chance of a prize.

It's a policy that we put in place for all our activities; we don't believe that Broadlands residents should pay for these activities when they already pay through HOA fees for services...

We're all there to have fun, not to win prizes. If you're interested in prizes, there are plenty of other Lan Parties you can go to...

okay, i do agree with the guy up top, i think a game like CS:Source would attract more people, but, since it seems a little more WW2 oriented, i think we should do DOD:Source....any comments? well can we even change the game anymore?

I understand the no prize policy but in the future maybe you should try one do it maybe half/half and see how many people show up. It could be a good fund raiser idea, and dod: s sounds fun.

We will be playing Call of Duty 2. We will not be having a fund raiser or prizes or anything like that. We thought about that in the past (and did so once) and it didn't work out at all.

Also, we'll be looking for volunteers to take up joining the tech committee and administering the LAN Gaming parties for 2007 and beyond. This will probably be the last gaming event hosted by both Mr Linux and I, as we're focusing more on a new HOA website among other things.

And it's attitudes like yours that are 'one' of the reasons why Hornerjo and myself have decided to stop running these LAN parties. We organize these so that everyone has fun, and then a few just get carried away and ruin it for everyone else... Honestly, after reading your post, I'm not interested in even running the next party; why bother, when we've been slowly losing 'participants' because its just plain 'not fun' anymore.

If you enjoy 'dominating' these events so much, feel free to take over the event and run it yourself. We'll be happy to offload all the work over to you and Ace. That way, you both can set everything up and end up playing against yourselves for 6 hours because nobody wants to show up anymore.

We're not complaining that you guys win a lot; it's just the attitude you take during these events that just ruins it for everyone else. Hornerjo and I have just reached the point where you've simply not made it fun for us to run these anymore. If you at least came into these events with the intention that everyone should have fun, it would help. But to you and Ace, it's just another day for you to show just how good you are, at the expense of everyone else.

Sorry, but that's where we stand. This LAN party will very well be the last one we will be running for a while. So, come on down and 'dominate' everyone one last time. But don't be surprised if a few of us just shut down or do something else while you run around the game.

I apologize if ruined your guys' experience at the last LAN party. I don't know yet if I am going to be able to come because of my tight schedule with Briar Woods football. But if I am not able to attend I hope you guys have a more enjoyable experience this time.

If you would have read my posting, you would have noticed that NOWHERE in there did I tell you all not to come to the event. I simply stated that you need to change your attitude when you come. Instead of coming to the event with a mindset of "I'm gonna snipe them all day and tick them off", why not come with an attitude such as "I'm gonna go to the event and have fun, and try to make it fun for everyone else as well".

    One day, you'll understand...
