I think the problem is.. a minor couldn't do it on their own because we are responsible for the Community Center.. the people in it, etc.

I would encourage someone interested to participate to help facilitate things, but they would still have to have a responsible adult of the committee to cover ourselves.

If there were interest.. we could even do things like organize online meets, rather then 'in person'. Setup a teamspeak server, the gaming servers, etc. Basically I think lots is open for discussion if interested parties wanted to come forward and help facilitate stuff. I think that would be open to any responsible people.. but the 'keys to the car' need to stay with the people of age :)

is there ever going to be another LAN party? Would it be possible for someone else besides the regualr guys to set one up at the community center? I was thinking me and a couple of my friends could help plan and organize one?

    Ideas for games would be:
    *BF2
    *BF2142
    *Counter Strike Source
    *Day of Defeat Source
    *RainbowSix: Vegas
and maybe perhaps a RTS game like
Company of Heroes or Command & Conquer 3: Tiberian Wars
Im open to any other suggestions to games as well

maybe if we generate enought interest in this we could get another LAN party set up

Hey guys. Mr Linux and I have been looking for someone to take over doing the LAN Gaming events for about a year now, but we have no new members to the tech committee. At this time the tech committee is no longer scheduling gaming events, but that could change in the future. Both Mr Linux and I have taken on new responsibilties over the last year and no longer have the time for it right now.

I'm not sure how much the cost is for renting the CC, but that could be an avenue you could explore. Have an adult rent and monitor it for you.

I also want to add that if someone DOES step up to take over the LAN Gaming events with/for the Tech Committee, that person or persons would have to be 'adults'. I know it may sound unfair, but there are a lot of responsibilities, as well as liabilities which could be an issue for the HOA, being a sponsored event.

Now, if you want to setup your own and rent the CC, as Hornerjo mentioned, then that's perfectly fine. An adult would have to rent it and pony up the cash though...

I've been debating on doing this.. just not up to speed on all the servers/games of the last year or two.. will depend on timing a bit. undecided :)

Afraid not. Eric and I have been looking for someone to take it over, but no one has joined the committee to do so. Both Eric and I have been working on other projects and we decided to try and find a replacement, that was last year.

Anyhow thats not saying we won't host another one, if there is enough interest I'm sure we could find a day somewhere free. But personally I'm wore out on the FPS market right now. Maybe Starcraft II once it comes out...

This LAN Party thing of which you speak....

What does it entale to organize one? Is it simply a local game or do you all go out and play on the Big Bad Webbernets too? Who brings the networking equipment?

The Tech Committee has all the equipment (switch, cables, tables, etc); we setup everything at the Community Center and folks bring their desktops/laptops, hook up to the network and we all play head to head, usually divided into 2 teams. There's nothing more fun than fragging a guy 10 feet away from you...

It's a blast, but over the years, Hornerjo and I just got burned-out organizing them. So, we decided to take a break/sabbatical for a while, and in the meantime, we were hoping some other adults would want to step in and organize a couple.

Hrm..really? Well, how often? Yeah - it soundz like fun. It would be nice if we could some how get out to ranked servers and have a SQUAD in one room communicating and stuff.

Actually, we've done that in the past. Worked out pretty well, and allowed me to get promoted a lot quicker ;)

We tend to stick to 2-side games, with players randomly assigned to each team. We run our own server on the local network also, in order to maximize the throughput.

I'll be at the TechComm meeting tomorrow and probably volunteer for this. It might be a slow start up as I'm fairly busy this summer, but we'll get a few rounds in.

You mean next month? The tech committee meets on the 2nd tuesday of every month. I believe our next (and future) meetings will all be at the Nature Center.

Thats the SW HOA. Eric and I are on the BHOA Tech Committee, we have nothing to do at all with the SW HOA.

Doesn't stop ya from getting a LAN Gaming day going, but just thought I'd let you know...

    Don't be. :)

It's not really spelled out anywhere on who is what, what crosses where, etc. The BHOA has a tech commitee and so does the SWHOA. The BHOA tech committee has run all of the Lan Gaming days to date. The SWHOA Tech Committee can of course run them as well.
